This is a good looking issue with color work that changes with the time period. The flash back scenes have a blue tone that gives them a dreamlike quality. Goo is an experienced author in narrative prose, but it's maddeningly difficult to get the rhythm just perfect on one issue per month of a comic book. The story that she's delivering here is interesting enough in its own right, but it's not terribly satisfying as a part of the longer run of a series that's still in its infancy. The extended family of characters that Goo is working with ARE interesting, but a bit more of the title character in issue #4 would have been a lot more satisfying. Read Full Review

Silvermane tells Saya's story to Cindy as Saya fights the cat-demon. It's told in beautiful balance with excellent cross-cut connections. The final result is maybe not surprising, but pretty satisfying. It looks great and some of the prose is particularly beautiful. I think in terms of content this is a merely average story, but the skill with which it's told makes this issue a very good read.

So now the villain is just a little less villainous because her dad and an oni are stepping up to fill that role. Makes me wonder how Silk will deal with this situation.
