Knull has taken the Earth. The Marauders set sail towards New York in the hopes of rescuing Cyclops and Storm who have fallen to Knull’s influence. But enroute, they happen upon a ship under siege by Knull’s dragons. After rescuing the crew, Bishop hears a faint SOS Morse code and discovers the crew to be human traffickers. After offering the victims temporarily amnesty on Island M, the Marauders continue onward to retrieve their friends. However, unbeknownst to the team, Bishop is under orders
from Beast that should they be unsuccessful in their liberation, Bishop is to execute Cyclops and Storm.
Beast continues his downward path into darkness. I recognize his intentions would be for Cyclops and Storm’s knowledge of Krakoa to not fall into the wrong hands. Obviously the two would immediately be resurrected, but this is still a heartless action from a friend. Had this been a few years ago and the roles reversed, Hank would have lost his mind over Scott taking this course of action. Beast is the ultimate hypocrite.

This might as well have just been a regular issue of Marauders. Doesn't have much to do with the King in Black. Which is fine by me! Captain Kate and her Marauders get caught up in a high-seas rescue mission. THIS is what the regular Marauders series has been lacking of late.

I can't imagine why migrants seeking asylum would want to go to Canada over the US, especially in the timeframe in which this was written. This issue isn't a must read, but it's a fun enough issue of Marauders.

Pretty fun, doesn't go too deep into the whole King in Black plot but manages to work really well even without it.

The threat of human-trafficking never seemed more serious than when told through the pages of this "funny book". Duggan can actually write seriously , completely taking me aback with this tie-in in contrast with his "Savage Avengers". This man has made Kitty a certified Red Queen , better than what any writer could have done on the main title with this single issue. If Duggan isn't already on the main Marauders, then Marvel needs to sign him up. My only issue with this story is that Iceman shouldn't have given the traffickers water , on what slave ship do they do that at ? And putting those bastards in South Africa ... my South African blood boiled. I wouldn't want human traffickers anywhere near my ancestral homeland , the mutants should'v
e had that gate going straight to hell.

On their way to rescue Storm and Cyclops, the Marauders get sidetracked saving a human-trafficking ship caught up in the KiB crisis. It's a neat idea, but it's also palpably rough on the script side. I can picture Gerry Duggan using the opportunity of an event one-shot to tell a Marauders story he couldn't figure out how to work into the main series -- but I can also picture him slapping this script together without bothering to edit much. Luke Ross contributes some fair visuals, with odd but workable designs for many of the characters. It's obvious he didn't come aboard (ha!) with a lot of experience drawing boats, though. This is a decent comic, but just a little additional effort could have made it good.

Whenever I see an issue that's about helping people I'm usually pretty happy, but this sucked. There was 0 time used to show the people being trafficked getting actually freed, but there's 3 whole pages dedicated solely to show the slavers getting punished. Priorities guys.
Also, so silly to me that they would save humans but also be cunty about it. "The council wouldn't allow it" no? Who would vote against it? Sinister, Exodus, Mystique and Shaw, vs Xavier, Erik, Kurt, Kate and Jean in favor.
Then not only not allowing them on Krakoa but also saying they are forbidden from entering parts of M Island is so dumb.
Whatever, weird, bad story.

White savior complex, funny how the white characters saves the black people while the only black main character it's a double agent with a kill secret mission
