Silver Surfer knows that Pym-Ultron is too powerful to stop, even teamed up with the might of Adam Warlock, so he heads for the one being in the Universe he knows has the ability to destroy an entire planet. The Infinity Countdown series as a whole has suprised, in a good way, more and more with each issue providing plenty of story, filled with internesting developments, to make it worth a spot on your pull list. It certinly bucks the trend of recent Marvel events, that have varied in quality level, with a great pacing and a smooth consistent art style setting the stage for big things to come at an exciting clip.  I recommend taking a peek if you have any anticipation for this summers event (Infinity War) to come. Infinity Countdown is a lot of fun and just what you’d hope for in a space book written by Gerry Duggan. He shows great diversity in his sense for voices, and clearly knows how to move a story along in a satisfying way. The colors can be a little lifeless, but that’s kind of the point in some cases, and they do expand to compliment the pencils to effectively demonstrate such an intense climax. This issue is just more of the same, with one exception: this issue made me weep even more for its treatment of Hank Pym, one of Marvel's classic heroes (and a personal favorite of mine) - for some reason, he's always treated like crap, and this series is no different. Read Full Review

While the sense of fun that has propelled Infinity Countdown forward is still present in Infinity Countdown #3, the latest issue of the pre-event loses a lot of the consistency and balance in its multifaceted storytelling. Read Full Review

Infinity Countdown #3 is almost a decent comic. It comes close until it starts pondering simulations and power saxophones. The overall book isnt awful, and the art team does their best to salvage this bizarre narrative. However, I can only recommend it to the people thoroughly invested in this series and can handle a bit of Draxs sax. Read Full Review

I liked it really much. Smart & great. A little what the f... with Drax Sax. I was really surprised about what happen with the Surfer. It's easily my beast reading of this week. Cover - I take the connecting variant. Really nice & a little related 2/2 Writing - At least I had something good to read. 3/3 Arts - I enjoy every panel 3/3 Feeling - I really love it. 2/2

Best issue so far. This was all sorts of crazy. And the cliffhanger at the end? Oh boy. I can't wait for the next issue. Duggan is bringing back the proper Marvel cosmic and I couldn't be happier.

Welcome to the Oblivion Bar where the first round is on me and the pretzels are free! Be warned: like the pickled eggs at the bar, this issue is going to get SPOILED rotten. We jump right in where we left off. Silver Surfer has been changed into a half Ultron cosmic creature and starts to fight Adam Warlock. However, Warlock does his "Cocoon" impersonation, just minus the elderly, and puts the Surfer in a healing sleep. Warlock fights Ultron a bit longer and suddenly the Surfer wakes up and flies away leaving Warlock by himself without even a Thank you.... just rude. Ultron and Warlock battle a bit more until Ultron releases his missiles into space to take over the universe and spread his A.I. like a plague. Meanwhile; the GoG conti nue to fight for the power gem with no prevail until Nova's brother has this vision about the gem being "mind over matter". I picture the scene from Karate Kid 2... but that's just me. Turns out; the gem really wasn't that big and Starlord just grabs it. He beats up Warbringer and puts the gem into Drax's sax. Yup I said Drax's sax. Drax's plays some smooth Jazz, at least that's what I heard when I read it, and with the power of the gem and Kenny G, he destroys all of the invading forces. We end with Nova taking the GoG off the planet to safety and we find out that the Silver Surfer left Adam Warlock to go get Galactus to destroy Ultron's planet. Guys, Infinity Countdown has just been a fun time. It has it's serious moments and it's humorous moments mixed in. It has great action, pretty decent art, and hilarious scenes sprinkled in throughout. Drax plays a saxophone to defeat an army with the power gem stuck inside. Come on! You get the Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, the GoG, an infinity gem, Ultron, and Galactus as a cliffhanger. What more do you want? Pick this book up and I hope you all enjoy Free Comic Book Day! Buy some comics and take your kids! more

Fun book!! Serious when it needs to be and plenty ridiculous in a Horn of Doom kinda of way!! Duggan makes it all mostly work from PymTron's encounter with Warlock and the Silver Surfer to the GOTG's fight with the Warbringer. The art is fantastic! While both Kuder and Hawthorne are great artists, the mix of the two is just mildly off. Still loving this mini ride and can't wait for the next one.

This event continues to be a fun ride, but i am ultimately starting to loose interest. Well, there is still two issues left. So i dont think i will stop just yet. Gerry Duggan continues to write very fun and delightful issues and this issue is no different to that. The art by Aaron Kuder and Mike Hawthorne however is inconsistent. At some point the art looks really good while in others it looks really bad. Well overall, a good issue with inconsistent art.

Strangely enough, I continue to enjoy this prelude to an event miniseries--fun, exciting, interesting writing and art, Guardians of the Galaxy fix, cool new ideas in every issue. I like it a lot!

Warlock rescues the Silver Surfer from Ultron, but that doesn't produce an ally. The Guardians manage to turn the Power Stone on thanks to a tip from Robbie. There is a lot of excellent stuff going on, but it feels like all the parts of the story are orbiting a still-hidden center. This book is pulling my attention to a point exactly equidistant between Adam Warlock and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvelous balance, but there's nothing exciting there and while I'm squinting at nothing, the many other moving parts are losing focus. This doesn't ruin the story, but it keeps the individually-good pieces from assembling into a great whole.

Silver Surfer has been infected by Ultron and Adam Warlock is trying to stop the power cosmic from...? I am not that sure really. My guess is that with Silver Surfer as a lackey Hank Pym who is infected with Ultron will have an easier time infecting the universe. It is being implied that when all is said and done Hank Pym will be the main villain of the Infinity Wars that will be coming up. For me so far I have not been able to buy into the motivations and threat that presents. There is still time for that to change, but that lack of presence required for a cosmic level villain makes the start of this issue harder to get into. The art works, but after seeing some of the work done on previous issues it did not feel strong enough. Part of tha t could be that I did not like the look of the Ultron infected characters. Hank Pym literally looks like two characters just tossed together like that old ComboMan add. Silver Surfer looks like they tried to do the same but with less commitment. The second half of the book deals with the Guardians protecting the power stone with Nova and his brother who is now a Raptor. There are some pretty cool call backs to character histories. The story does start to get a little out there as cosmic tales often can. What is interesting is we start to see what Duggan meant when he said mastery of one stone can power another. The Guardians and friends have to mentally control the power stone in order to use it. If you look at the handy map at the front of the book we see the mind stone controls the power stone. It is a neat glimpse at what is coming our way and creates an interesting addition to the story. The art from the second half of the book pulled me in a little more than the first half. Colors are a little more muted, but when there is more color added they really shine. The major problem is that this is a pricier book. If you have not been on this ride so far this is not the place to jump in. I would go back to the first issue of the ser more
