The Immortal Thor #4 delivers an epic recruitment of the Thor Corps. While the Thor and Storm interaction dominates the issue Beta Ray Bill, Sif, and Loki get great character moments. Immortal Thor #4 shows the God of Thunder seek an audience with Storm and other allies while Toranos draws closer and closer to the solar system. The initial exchange between Thor and Storm goes about as well and as predictable as you'd expect, but the outcome is worth the hassle as we see what Thor's true plan to fight Toranos really is. My favorite issue of the series thus far. Thor and Storm's battle and discussion was a highlight, and the gathering of the Thors combined with the continued sheer scale and size that Coccolo gives Toranus has me very excited for the upcoming battle. Even better was the teaser at the end; I'm very glad Ewing is writing that character again and can't wait to see what he's cooking with the teased idea. Last few issues were good but slightly dragging their feet; this one feels much more eventful and I can't wait to see what comes next on multiple fronts.

Thor brings together a select team of beings linked to the power of Mjolnir to form the Thor Corps, the new team of gods who will fight an immense threat. MartIn Coccolo offers amazing sequences of detailed art, with textures that give it great dynamism and amazing splash pages. He achieves great dynamism with epic sequences, where the power of thunder stands out.

Though not as masterful as previous issues this was still a blast to see everyone sharing Thor's hammer to take down Toranos. My only beef in this is some of the characterization going on, Storm is pretty mean these days and not just in Thor but in the Avengers run too I've noticed. She is very short with people and has an uppity attitude like her shit doesn't stink. I'm sure there's a good reason for this that I might of missed in some series but I still don't like her current persona. Like when Thor ask for her help, Storm treats him like dog shit, she uses her atmospheric pressure powers on him to make him feel the crushing weight and strikes him hard with lightning which of course he speaks to the lightning to ease off and it ob eys. Storm has this same cliche line that also came up on Avengers #20 or #21 by Jed Makay I think where she says "I must be equal." In avengers when talking to Scott she says roughly "I no longer work in groups that have a leader, only in groups that are equal to eachother." Storm sounds like a pissy 5 year old to me and clearly her anger comes out more when the person she is talking to is white. This hatred really comes out on poor Thor! None of the others come off like this though Jane was pretty nice, Bill having felt angry about Thor ended up making up with him after the defeat of To ranks and they had a real bro moment that I loved. Obviously Storm being mean is some kind of editorial agenda if she is just like this now I guess. Nonetheless the Thor stuff in this is golden baby! more

Great issue to set up the Thor Corps in the next one. I was super excited about this team when I saw the cover for Issue 5 in the solicitations. I'm especially excited for Bill, as he's one of my favorite Marvel characters, if not my absolute favorite. I've been waiting for him to get some spotlight ever since Daniel Warren Johnson's fantastic miniseries with him in 2021. All things considered, I'm really looking forward to seeing this awesome team face Toranos in the next issue. Cóccolo's art made Toranos and everyone else just look great, as per usual. Plus, those last two pages were extremely interesting.

It's a big hoo-rah "putting the band together" episode, conveyed with poetic words and beautiful art. I was certainly rooting for the good guys by the end, but I'm holding my rating a touch shy of "great." Setting aside the character interactions--which are great--there's not a lot of plot development. The "big picture" progress can be fully summarized in a single sentence. And at least one of the worthiness checks in this issue is questionable.

pretty sick to see (almost, because i missed Cap in this as well) all the Worthy together, but after Daniel Warren Johnson's amazing Beta Ray Bill mini, seeing him not using...that, and instead going back to using Mjolnir feels like a downgrade. I expected Al Ewing, master of respecting continuity to do better than this. Hopefully he will use...it in the next issues.

Really liked this one. The villain stands out, the story moves in a strong direction, and it sets things up nicely for what’s coming next. Solid issue — simple as that.
