ComicBook.com - Chase Magnett
Oct 28, 2020This issue is an experience, an explosion that builds upon so much carefully laid groundwork in order to present a vision of hell that really looks like hell. It's one of the best drawn comics to be released this year; you have been warned. Read Full Review

Horror DNA - James Ferguson
Nov 09, 2020Just when I thought I had Immortal Hulk figured out, writer Al Ewing adds more twists and turns that take this series to frightening new heights. It's an impressive combination of pure, unbridled horror and traditional super hero battles of good vs. evil. I'm terrified of the monstrous forms and body horror as well as what the events of this book mean for the Hulk and Bruce Banner. I don't see how the good guys win this fight and that's pretty scary. Oct 28, 2020Joe Bennett delivers some haunting imagery in this issue. There are some horrific visual moments throughout that amplify the horror of the story itself and I loved every page of it. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Charles Martin
Oct 28, 2020Immortal Hulk #39 is another dark chapter in the Leader's assault on the Hulk. The latest developments are terrifying and the visuals break yet more new ground when it comes to body horror. This climactic episode just serves as another proof of the fact that this series is one of the best horror comics being published by Marvel -- or by anyone. Read Full Review

Well, that was unexpected. And so, so great. This arc is fucking crazy. But so is most of the run. I don't think I've ever liked a Hulk book as much as this series. Al Ewing is making it increasingly difficult for anyone else to take over once he ends his run.

This is the best Grant Morrison comic not written by Grant Morrison. But seriously, this is amazing. This arc in particular is just insane.

Holy hell! This issue was terrific. Some truly horrifying panels that remind you this is a horror comic. Leader is a damn fine villain and written incredibly well.

I spoke too soon when I predicted the Leader's imminent defeat! Here he turns things around in grand, gory style, exiting the Mindscape with the prize he wanted and leaving behind a sad casualty. The script is good, the plot developments are great, and the art continues to be the greatest body horror tour de force on the shelves today.

This was a great read. This one made everything click and just felt good to read while Bennett just was himself and killed it again. They have to be nearing the climax here. Im excited to see what happens.

That last page was just messed up. This book is outstanding. Bennett/Jose/Mounts are a killer art team. 11 issues to go and how do you top that? But I need answers.
