Zeb Wells is putting out the most fun and engaging outcasts X-book possible, and with Carmen Carnero and David Curiels realistic and precious art approach, it fits as perfectly and strangely as its cast. Hellions #5 is a fun read, but in the overall X Of Swords story, it just feels like a placeholder, a way to pad the run time, to use a movie metaphor. The Hellions aren't going to be able to make enough of a difference in the whole thing; it would completely ruin X Of Swords if they did. The idea is good, and the characters make the whole thing worthwhile, but it's just a way to justify X Of Swords being 22 issues long. Well and company do a great job, though, so there's that. I like the X-Men crossover event as a whole but this one felt very out of place. It did not feature a mutant looking for a sword but rather a way to circumvent the rules that have been set out. Tactically, this makes perfect sense for the story but it felt out of place in the narrative arc. It is like one set of writers is going right while this one took a sharp left. Read Full Review

What a great way to include the Hellions into the "X of Swords" mega-story. Even better, I love how Zeb Wells is setting up their journey. I can't wait to see how the team's dynamics are gonna play out. (Methinks Empath has purchased another ticket for the "resurrection express" - he better hope they work out the kinks to the system). To top it off, Sinister(ish) is leading the mission...to quote Psylocke, "This one's going to end badly." The art is spectacular too...Carnero (and team) have continued the awesome quality that Segovia (and team) have provided in the first four issues.

This series has been good even before this event. But this issue was awesome. It's a unique take on what the Hellions will do for this event. And it's just fun! the dialogue, the interactions, the premise, it's all just comic book hijinks that feels fun and doesn't distract from the overall point to the event. Love to see what happens next with the Hellions. The art is also fantastic. It feels good to have the X-Men books back on top of their game after so many years

XOS Ch. 6: I love this series! Wells continues to create entertaining dynamics between the team members and it'll be interesting to see how Greycrow reacts to Empath's humiliation of him.

Wells continues to do a great job handling all of these characters. The humor is great here, as are the dynamics between all of the characters. I also think this was the perfect way to involve this book in X of Swords without making it have a large impact on the bigger picture of Krakoa. Awesome stuff all around from this title once again.

Thank God. You really shouldn't do a big event without a designated comic relief title, and this fits the bill perfectly. A delightful respite from the slow-moving, occasionally pompous tone established so far. Plus, it even stands a chance of becoming relevant to the big-picture plot! Plus plus, Carmen Carnero is playing it deadly straight and delivering top-shelf prestige art, which makes the reading experience that much better.

I liked this a lot. Couple hiccups with the writing, but this is definitely the most engaging X-of-Swords story so far, and Mr. Sinister is just a great character.
