Hellions #2

Its new and its unique to anything Marvel is putting out right now while providing that extra spark to add some spirit to the X-books. Its an excellent addition to the X-MEN titles and Zeb Wells feels like a great fit. Though the length of time between these first two issues has been frustrating, I truly think Hellions #2 was worth the wait. This isn't the strongest series to come up with the X-Men revamp but the themes are rather engaging. I love the darker tone that is coming out of this and X-Force and I enjoy most of the characters that are being featured in this series. At the very least, I will be picking up the next issue to see if they can continue the momentum. My fear is that the middle issues are going to be much of the same thing and not bring anything new to the table. Read Full Review

Great issue. Major kudos to Stephen Segovia (and crew). The art was brilliant. Love the darker color pallet for Psylocke. While the book is about a kill squad, this issue had fun and funny moments...(a.k.a. Greycrow's solution to Empath's mischief). Can't wait to see what's gonna happen in issue #3. Methinks Wild Child is gonna get a psychic smackdown.

Love how the $#!t hits the fan for this team pretty much right away. This is a great team of outcasts and it's fun seeing Madelyne being the sadistic diva she's always been so good at.

A real gem of a comic, the art fits perfectly and the characters are very well written. I hope we have much more of Madelyne in the future.

Really blown away by the writing in this series. Clearly this is Marvel's "Suicide Squad" using the X-Men roster with the ability to kill anyone at any moment (due to The Five being able to rebirth all mutants) puts a fun twist on it. Kinda feels like Deadpool is missing but that might be too obvious.

I liked this one better than the first issue, as I think it had more room to breathe with the setup out of the way. Segovia's art continues to be good, but the writing from Wells is what makes this book for me. I think he's handling all of the characters nicely and I particularly enjoyed seeing Greycrow straight-up shoot Empath in the face. The introduction of resurrecting mutants has allowed writers more freedom to have a character die, even if they'lll be resurrected as soon as the next issue.

Enjoyed this book. I have no familiarity with any of the characters (I always wondered about Nanny -even before knowing her name). Great story, great art. It has a creepy vibe to it. Excellent ending with Wild Child and Psylocke. Interested to see where this leads.

The Hellions' run-in with the Marauders and the Goblin Queen goes just about as bad as an x-mission can go. Solid scripting and top-shelf art ensure that this fast read is still satisfying. I appreciate the fundamental logic that drives this plot: A "team" of psychopaths that mostly hate each other is no team at all.

I like how the story develops beginning with the tension between the human cops and the mutant Hellions. The fight scene that takes up much of the book is really fun to read. The twist at the end is set-up in a convincing way and makes me want to read the next issue. The bit with Empath was a bit abrupt. Nanny provides some nice humor, though one of the gags goes on a beat too long. Psylocke and Madelyne Pryor are oversexualized in a way that detracts from the book.

I forgot about this series, but it's pretty good. I like the premise a lot, but so far, they've yet to go anywhere interesting with it.
