Guardians of the Galaxy #15

Al Ewings grasp of the characters is second to none, this run is as important to the lore as anything previously published. It’s impossible to heap enough praise on the issue, or the larger series. Each issue stands out from the rows of comics because of the second to none storytelling contained within. This is fast becoming one of the best runs on Guardians, and in time will rightly be remembered as a legendary epic. This is shaping up to be the definitive take on the Guardians of the Galaxy. Guardians of the Galaxy #15 splits its time between Earth and the mysterious state of Ego from the previous issue. Unfortunately, the comic spends a little too much time making a fool out of Nova and attempts to convey a message about things being more complex nowadays for both Earth and the wider Marvel Universe. Things ramp back up by the end with a cool reveal that's sure to get the series back into straightforward superhero action the next issue. Read Full Review

This issue sets up The Last Annihilation and acts as an epilogue to the events of the Hellfire Gala. However it stands alone, as Ewing takes the time to do some great character progression complimented with exciting action. The art gets better by the issue too, truly making this a series to watch. This is a really good issue that basically serves as a prelude to the SWORD issue also out this week. The reveal at the end is so, so good. It makes me genuinely excited for The Last Annihilation.

This is a commentary track to S.W.O.R.D. #6. Magneto and Nova threw a super-powered hissy fit at each other just to keep the entire issue from being comment comment comment comment (with a dumb surprise at the end). Maybe I'm just pissed because I absolutely loathe this sort of "something vague and ominous is coming, and its ominousness is exceeded only by its vagueness" foreshadowing.
