On Comics Ground - Timothy Quail

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Aaron Anderson
Oct 16, 2019This is a fast-paced issue that at first glance was pretty good. I really have no problem with the art except Peter Quill's face. It always seemed a bit off. The story, on the other hand, has become obvious in nature. It is here solely to set up future storylines. Magus is thrown in as the Deus ex machina and is mainly trying to make a boring Thanos series relevant. Guardians the Galaxy is all about the team and we have hardly had any team or teamwork in this whole series. It feels like characters are not used as characters but for their powers only. Oct 16, 2019Similar to many of this volume's past issues, Guardians #10 is long on strategic plot development and offers just a frustratingly brief dollop of character interaction. Some polished, top-shelf art works hard to make the action grand and the characters sympathetic. But even the strongest visuals couldn't fix the core problem that carries on through this issue's script: It's a story about things happening to Guardians characters rather than a story about the Guardians as a team. Sequential Planet - Ethan Maddux
Oct 17, 2019Guardians of the Galaxy #10, despite being well written and drawn, just falls short of what it should be. Many of it's greatest and most exciting characters are sidelined in favor of the more marketable names, and it feels like a missed opportunity. Despite that, Cates does have a strong handle on Rocket and Peter's characters, and their voices carry the book. It's fun, but there's just not much lurking beneath the surface. Prelude: I've been loving Cates' Guardians of the Galaxy, so let's see if Cates can keep up this momentum. The Good: Seeing the Magus was good and his current backstory is definitely an interesting situation. Much more interaction between the team which I loved. I'm interested in this old Drax we've got. Rocket's death does seem to be coming and serious though... The Bad: We all know Rocket isn't going to die. Also there isn't much plot development. Conclusion: Bit of a weaker issue this time around but it's mostly set-up for the final two issues of Cates' run.

I kept losing interest before it was over and had to reread pages several times over. What happened? It was a little boring.

If you're digging this comic by now then you will be digging this issue. If you haven't then you might wanna just ditch the book. We get a nice backstory on this character that is somewhat enjoyable. Moondragon seriously is a waste to even be here at this point. Love Groot but seriously he has been a let down on majority of this run. We don't even get much of him doing anything. Art is actually pretty awesome! Hopefully artist stays on when the book comes back.
