Existing as it does sort of outside the formal timeline set-up between the end of the last Doctor Strange series and the beginning of the next, this is a fun, little excursion into some other time for a few quick moments of magic and horror just in time for Halloween. Howard and Pichetshote engage the Marvel universe from its darker edges in a fun glance into the shadows as the nights begin to get longer before a couple of months before the arrival of a whole new decade.  Read Full Review

Despite the huge cast of characters in the main story, its the secondary back up tale that is more intriguing . A rare occasion in an annual. As such it deserves the most kudos. Read Full Review

If you came to this issue for a continuation of Mark Waids run, you came to the wrong place. If you were interested in unique stories that were reasonably entertaining, these will do the trick and wet your whistle. However, this annual is certainly not necessary and could easily be skipped. All in all, the annual gives you a taste of everything you would expect from a Dr. Strange title. It brings supernatural action, a feeling of horror, but also has a heart-warming aspect that may not have been expected. And the second story is a highlight and could be implying what the future holds for the Master of the Mystic Arts. Read Full Review

The A strip gives me that same disjointed feeling I get from a lot of Tini Howard's work. It's like all the best bits from multiple drafts have been jammed together, but nobody checked to make sure that the final plot follows rational cause-and-effect rules.

The first story was fine, if a bit jumbled and messy. The second story was odd, but it had some pretty cool body horror, so that's something.

Just when you think Mark Waid is not as good as he used to be, along comes another Dr. Strange book written so bad that makes you appreciate what Waid did the last year and half. And the art did not do this book any favors. Waste of 5 dollars. The cover is the only redeeming thing here!

This was really not very strong at all. Both stories weren’t told particularly well, though the second had a few good moments of atmosphere.

this just didn't work for me unfortunately I just felt it was a weak if not silly story personally. the second story was certainly better but not all that great still and very brief
