The monologues may weigh the issue down, but the idea and concepts from Waid are very interesting. I havent read a ton on Galactus but I dont recall him going against magical and demonic beings before. So, as a reader who searches for new and creative stories, this lands in my wheelhouse. The overall story Waid and Kitson are delivering here is genuinely fun and interesting, but the execution lacks the kind of brilliance needed to live up to some of the most cosmic forces in the Marvel Universe. Not actually bad, but its a fun story that could have been awesome if it had been framed in a better way. As the story continues next issue, Waid and Kitson are likely to draw more on character development with Strange in a way that will distract from the cosmic scope of the action. The hero is joining forces with his ex-wife Clea as the dread Dormammu waits in the shadows. With any luck, that will put the story on a firmer, more manageable footing. Read Full Review

It's a very enjoyable story. The execution isn't up to the grandiose of the ideas. But fun story with some nice art!

I liked this issue, but I thought it ran a bit long. The beginning with Doctor Strange describing Galactus was great. Once Clea showed up, things got a little more muddled as the comic really rushed to include these story beats, while still making its page count seem a lot larger than it was.

In the end, this JUST clears the bar that springs up in your mind when you hear "Galactus is loose in the Mystic Realm." It's as big as it should be … but no bigger.
