Its issues like Doctor Strange #18 that hits you hard when you realize that there will be a time soon when this run will end, new creative team and all. I loved this issue. The suspense was palpable as Thor raced to perform brain surgery on all of Strange's patients, and Mister Misery continued to emerge as a terrible threat. The tension builds towards the end for an excellent conclusion. Funny, intense, and drawn masterfully, this is a great comic book.

A really great team up. I liked the explanation the Dr gives Thor about knowing who she really is. And I love the art of Bachalo. So much to appreciate. I can't wait to see what Aaron brings us next.

Have to suspend your disbelief that Thor, who has zero experience performing brain surgery, was the best person Dr. Strange could think of to perform complex magical brain surgery on a dozen patients, but other than that it was a good issue.

Coming from the days where team-ups happened every few issues I really loved this issue. The way that Aaron uses Thor was a fun surprise as well, needing her more for her skills as Jane Foster than as the Mighty Thor. Strange's approach to stopping Misery was also fun. I am going to be sad to see this team leave the book in a couple issues. I hope that the new team can create some equally interesting strange tales (see what I did there?).

Me too. But the last issue was sooooo dark it needed that broody art this time around not as much. But I wouldn't mind having Irving popping on back in from time to time.

Thor helps Doc S save his old patients from Mr. Misery in tumor form. Saving Wong, though - that's up to Stephen alone. Jason Aaron doubles down on the body horror in this gloriously nasty medical thriller. Chris Bachalo's artwork is at its height and together the creators really sell the "bizarre and revolting" part of Dr. Strange's work without actually driving the reader away. It filled me up with creepy-crawlies but it also had me turning the pages at top speed. There is a bit of "power creep" on Thor that you can use to work yourself into a rage if you wanna be an insufferable comics know-it-all.
