Like the rest of the book, the art was fine. For all the action, most of it felt pretty stiff. And for a book about monsters, their renderings were not very monstrous, but I chalk that up more to the tie-in nature of the book. I doubt Julian Lopez had much wiggle room for any of these designs. The continuity with the main series got messed up. We know this takes place after Doctor Strange #20 because he has the wand, but Wong is still answering the door when he shouldn't be, someone at Marvel should have caught that. The story itself is not bad, it's plagued with having to tie in to a shitty event, but it is a simple, enjoyable story. Googam is funny, he makes for a good sidekick to Strange.

This one off story of Doctor Strange has him teaming up with Groom 'Destroyer of Worlds' and his son to take on a monster that is destroying New York. Since Strange is lacking in power he uses a trinket that transports the monster instead of defeating it. Strange sets out to stop the monster with the help of Groom's son in order to stop it for good. The tale could be more interesting with Strange using what he can to stop the monster who has a major advantage with a small amount of resources. His relationship with Groomer (I think he was called) could also be played out in an interesting way since both boast confidence with little action to back it up. That does not seem to be the case however. The presence of Groom and Groomer is a simple guest appearance with no real purpose. Strange's face off with the monster is action packed but there could be a real battle of ingenuity that is missed. The story is still entertaining and worth a look if not for the art alone. The art in the book is certainly done with care and fits in nicely with the world of Doctor Strange. more

Low-power Dr. Strange struggles to defeat a monster with the help of Googam, son of Goom. I was doubly underwhelmed here as both a fan of Chip Zdarsky and of comics in general. The humor seems somehow lazy and strained at the same time. Superb art from Julian Lopez helps make this story entertaining, though.
