Despicable Deadpool is still one of the Marvel's greatest ongoing titles. Duggan makes Wade more than just-a-joke-character, and his relationship with Rogue is handled very well. And Cap coming back? This is going to be interesting...

Last issue with Deadpool confronting the evil Steve was a great moment so it leaves a pretty high bar moving forward. While this confrontation is not great, I would say Duggan did a pretty good job. There is some fun humor. There is also some heart as you see that Deadpool's old teammates have not given up on him yet. The fact that exposition sits in a constant fight is clever. The overall theme of redemption playing out in the Deadpool books is far more engaging then I would have thought. I was not convinced when this series started out (with Legacy) but with every issue they are making glad that I stuck with it.

Rogue tries and fails to arrest Deadpool while also doing some basic psychoanalysis. Constructing the entire issue as one smooth fight scene makes it feel deceptively short, as do the visuals. Ruth Redmond lays some vibrant springtime colors over Matteo Lolli's art, and I inadvertently found myself speeding through the panels faster than the art deserved. On the other hand, there is something subtly disconcerting about Rogue's character design, and slowing down to scrutinize it doesn't help. This is fast but fun, and I think the frustration I feel with this title's pacing will disappear when it's all completed and available in one big beautiful chunk.
