Conan The Barbarian #4

The quality of this book transcends genre, publisher, and our current times to become a complete reading experience. Whether you've read issues prior or this is your first taste, this book is pure quality. Jason Aaron's guiding hand has been the perfect first touch to entrust the newly licensed character with. Marvel is really succeeding with the titles that it's taking different turns with and this sits comfortably, if not slightly above, Immortal Hulk and Daredevil as the company's must-read titles. The art by Gerardo Zaffino is stellar, just great. It was a little sketchy at points but looks great. The lion in particular looks so good, I love it. There are a couple splash pages that I would seriously consider poster worthy, and the panel with Conan flying through the air attacking the guys on the dock is totally getting snagged as a new cover photo. At first the art change really bothered me, especially the first page. But as the issue went on, it really worked for this story. Which was great, yet again. This series knocks every issue out of the park and this is one of the best.

THE GOOD: -I think I like Gerardo Zaffino's art better than Mahmud Asrar's. Especially for the tone of this issue. -For once, I found Conan a super compelling character. He was such a good character this issue. -The lion was such a cool part of this issue. -I think this is my favorite issue so far. -The storyline this issue was great. I was compelled all the way and never bored. -The end was everything I ever wanted out of this comic. This series got off to a rough start, but has more than made up for that. THE BAD: -I don't think I found anything wrong with this issue. It's not a full ten, but it's close. Too bad there isn't a 9.8 rating I can give.

Lion part could of been cool if he caught it in a pit barehanded. This turned into a Batman story. Very week! Some good action pages.
