Conan The Barbarian #3

Overall the third issue of Conan the Barbarian continues to entertain on such a visceral level, every aspect of this book is working to tell the best possible Conan story and what more could you ask for. If you haven't jumped on this series I would suggest adding it to your pull list as well as grabbing the three issues currently on the racks. I don't hate this issue but in my opinion much of the bad outweighs the good, with most of the interesting stuff happening off panel, a wholly unnecessarily long winded speech from a priest of Mitra for basically no reason, and the final resolution being possibly a literal act of a god. This was great. My favorite issue so far. I didn't really even have time to read this, but once I started, I couldn't stop. That's a sign of an amazing issue, I think.

THE GOOD: -Awesome issue. Huge improvement over the first two. -Best art we've seen so far. The art was just really immersive. -The narration was just really strong this issue. -Okay, if you did not find this issue badass, I think you need to get your badass meter checked. Jk… I fully respect any and all opinions of those who read this issue…. :) -This issue had a really compelling story. -The end of this issue is just really perfect. THE BAD: -I don't really find Conan super compelling. I didn't grow up with him or anything, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Looks like Aaron has opted to write several self contained backstories to tie loosely into the main plot. This issue was pretty cool and makes me hope that divine intervention eludes to a grander plan. The prose backup was sweet too.
