While Captain Marvel might be benched from fighting until her powers are sorted out, her story is far from boring. The creative team is exploring Carol as a well-rounded character; one who isn't fully human in her biology, but still fully human in her struggles and vulnerability. It's a side of the Captain that can be easy to forget about. Captain Marvel has been ousted as part Kree and no one is accepting it. But thanks to this new mystery superhero taking over, does this mean that Carol has some time to figure out why her powers have been acting so weird or is she just going to accept it and keep going with her new life? Despite a minor hiccup Captain Marvel #9continues to deliver a story that completely succeeds in keeping me invested in Carol's story. I always appreciate the great strides the creative team takes to capture a true human experience with this story. Even if filtered through a lens of plasma blasts and spandex costumes. Captain Marvel #9 was a tightly paced comic book. Kelly Thompson creates greater interest in the direction of Carol Danvers powers failing her. The mystery around that along with the different interactions she has with characters like Iron Man and Spider-Woman a strong second chapter to the "Falling Star" story arc. Read Full Review

I would usually like to talk about the art in this issue but just like the story it is just bland at best. I mean, they are totally better than mebut when it comes to comic book art, this issue just lacks all the way around. This issue may have some appeal to die hard Captain Marvel fans but as a whole in this big market of comic books, it is just mediocre at best. Read Full Review

Continued power loss convinces Carol to seek help. She starts connecting the dots of all her sudden adversities, with the final panels throwing in a fresh twist. Words and art are wonderfully entertaining in the moment, though memorability and re-read value come in a little shy of greatness.
