When I was finished, I literally thought, "Wait, it's over already?!" It's so expertly crafted. More than anything, Steve Rogers actually stands for something again, and we would do well not to take it for granted. Read Full Review

Captain America #5 is a rock solid comic that sold me on this story. This run has been strong so far, but this issue took this series to the next level, and when you get to one specific page in this comic, you'll nod in agreement. It feels like we are in the midst of an absolutely stellar Captain America run and I can't wait to read more. Read Full Review

Ta-Nehisi Coates' script is insightful, sinister in its plots and everything one could hope for from a Captain America book. In short, the book was fantastic and one I hardily recommend. Read Full Review

It's also appreciated that this issue got the story moving. A new arc should be on the horizon soon and it'll be a good opportunity to reset the game board and introduce somebig pieces to shake things up. Read Full Review

Captain America #5 is a tightly written issue that places sturdy building blocks for the future of this series. By bringing back a classic Captain America villain Ta-Nehisi Coates sets things up to get even more interesting as he can now build future stories around what he set into place here. If you are a Captain America fan you'll want to be reading this series. It looks like it could be something special. Read Full Review

At first the cover would have seemed like a cheap trick, but i think its more of a preview of whats to come. Caps fight with Taskmaster was really cool. Ta-Nehisi is definitely planning more than he's showing. Great issue, great series.

Very strong issue. This run hits the modern day head on without being preachy or simplifying things and that's really commendable in comics nowadays.

THE GOOD: -I love the art. Its something I can count on fro consistency every time I open an issue of this series. -Great writing too. The dialogue had some cool moments. -Its nice that Coates has decided to dial back the monologue during the fight scenes and let the visuals (mostly) take over. -That Taskmaster fight scene was awesome. -I really liked the scene with Bucky. The dialogue was awesome and both characters were really well written in that moment. -That end-scene was so cool. I am pumped for the next issue. -All in all, this issue just provides excellent, quality entertainment. Its a great adventure, and I loved it. THE BAD: -I just wish more happened in this issue. It was a nice bridge between the more

Cap defeats Taskmaster and saves Sharon, but his enemies are powerful enough to publicize it in a way that hurts him. Plus, his good work doesn't stop them from bolstering their ranks with a momentous resurrection. Exquisite visual and narrative skills come closer together than ever before to tell a very satisfying story here. Cap at last bending his narration to the fight at hand is terrific, and the art breezes through crucial visual-only storytelling moments with clarity and impact.

Great chapter but i have to say that i read it twice and enjoyed it but it took me 15 minutes to read it twice. Some more exposition to go with the beautiful art from Yu/Alanguillan/Gho would have made more sense to me. I want more to read (yes i know i'm of the minority here). Just like all books nowadays, they read better as a collection. I wish i can wait for the TPB but the story is good and don't want it spoiled.

Best issue of the series so far. Again Coates is building to something that could be good but the story so far has been very decompressed. I believe that this will read much better in trade and I will be switching after issue 6 to trades.

I love a good slow cooker but Damn Coates is taking his damn time with this one. The payoffs are weird and the story feels confusing rather than mysterious. I get what hes trying to do but it feels like hes writing it as he goes here and not in a good way. Thank Yu for keeping us entertained with his great art and I will say this issue was much better than the prior, with a real cliffhanger that gives Coates theme hope.

Not as politically potent or exciting as previous issues. Regardless, #5 is proper cap to a solid first arc. Ta-Nehisis Coates is the writer we need right now (and I don't use that phrase lightly).
