Black Panther #16

It continues to amaze me I may be the only guy harping that this book needs attention, and that should change. Coates and Acuna's story is rightfully fit for a king, and should make any and everyone's pull list this week. I was worried, with the X-Men comics getting a ton of attention, that we would see Storm pulled slowly from this book, but that hasn't been the case, thankfully. Just when you thought you could celebrate, nope. King T'Challa is brooding again but for good reason, he has a tough decision coming up that only speaking to his mother in Djalia will fix. Not only are things not feeling right with T'Challa but literally some jet-fighters from the Empire jump to Wakanda Prime. Never a second thought, Daniel Acua gives visual life to the Black Panther universe with a grounded flair that adds richness through Blackness. Deep care for the Black aesthetic has been a benchmark throughout the series, highlighted by the different hair textures and the many (many) shades of Black and Brown skin tones. These details show through on T'Challa's rough-hewn, battle-worn and noble face; in the visible, regal concern on Shuri's brow. Read Full Review

The Symbiote, which is what I should just call it since it is obvious it doesnt have the body of NJadaka in it anymore. We saw last issue the Symbiote possessing an unsuspecting security guard in the capital city. Now it seems to have walked all the way to Chanagamires house. Read Full Review

Again this story is moving along but somehow all is mismatched. I still feel like I should have waited and read it all in collected form to enjoy it better. Acuna is perfect again!

It's exciting to see Coates bringing the characters from his first run back into play. This run finally feels properly connected the Wakanda's ongoing mythology.

As it moves away from the outer space empire storyline it improves but its taking too long.
