Story threads dating back to 2018's Avengers #1 and before all come together for Mephisto's most audacious plot yet, and the ante is upped for the last time before all hell (literally) breaks loose. Read Full Review

Mephisto and a Young Thanos? That's what hooked me on this issue. A frame or two of a Doom Supreme also makes it pretty cool. But something about Young Thanos makes me wonder what the writers intend to do with such a character. The cover art alone is frameable! While the story needs to wrap up, the art keeps it marching along! Read Full Review

    Comic Watch - Isaiah Hernandez

Avengers #66 has some thrills to offer, but it can't help but feel as if the narrative is being stretched to unnecessary lengths. However, fantastic visuals and the rare character moment continue to carry this comic onward. Read Full Review

    The Comicbook Dispatch - StoryBabbler

    Mar 08, 2023

Avengers #66 continues the deadly battle between the Avengers and Doom Supreme and his army of Dooms while showing what Mephisto has been up to. It's not the most amazing thing done with Mephisto, but it's fine. Despite the potential of what this powered-up Mephisto has to offer as a villain, he doesn't do much here, and it seems like the storyline is saving that for the next few parts instead of really showing Mephisto in action for this issue. Other than that, the comic is mostly recap and setup for the next two parts with some new appearances that should definitely provide more engaging action. Read Full Review

I don't get the hate here. It's not amazing comics, but it's not as bad as you'd think given the ratings.

Solid stuff from Aaron and Garrón here. As a reader of this series from the beginning, I can only hope for a grand conclusion. While I haven't been the biggest fan of this storyline, I do appreciate the setup in the final pages. As a fan of the majority of this series, I hope the final bits of this current arc can deliver.

The disappointment here is just...I should be used to it by now. On paper this should work but the weight of the story after 4 years is too much on Aaron who delivers a sub par script with stupid lines and all too predictable stuff. Javier Garron works his butt off here on art and is wasted.

I see we've reached the point in the play-date where the frustrated rich kid dumps out his entire toy chest of action figures and declares himself the winner by sheer quantity. Poor Javier GarrÏŒn is working his fingers to the bone creating intensely detailed panels stuffed chock-full of characters. It's counter-productive in two ways: The story is too feeble to encourage readers to scrutinize those panels, and they are just so busy that the best/most important sights are drowned out by the clutter. If there's one lesson to take from this finale arc (and Aaron's Avengers as a whole, really) it's that you can definitely have too much of a good thing.
