Patrick Gleason shines with the art in this issue. There are impressive visual moments throughout and the action is as compelling as the character moments. Read Full Review

    Comic Watch - Jimmy Hayes

Even with a couple of head-scratching moments, this book is still up there in quality with the other issues of Spencer's run. Add to that, Gleason's phenomenal art and you've got the first "classic" issue of 2021. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

    Mar 10, 2021

Amazing Spider-Man #61 kicks off the "Let's Try Something New" story arc and stands by that name in entertaining ways. Spider-Man's inability to pull in cash is not a new concept, but the job he gets in this issue and how it ties into the new costume is a clever idea. For that alone, this is a great place to start for Spider-Man fans looking for some innovation and new ideas. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings

    Mar 10, 2021

Amazing Spider-Man #61acts as a "new start" for the web-slinger, giving him a new costume and new job-and setting up a new wave of threats. Given where the issue leaves off, Spidey and Boomerang are up a creek without a paddle-and that often leads to some of the best Peter Parker stories. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

    Mar 11, 2021

Though the presentation for how Peter Parker gets his new costume in Amazing Spider-Man #61 is not a home run everything around this change worked well. Nick Spencer does a good job in how he focuses what it means for Wilson Fisk to return to being the Kingpin of Crime. How that impacts Peter Parker and Spider-Man's world creates enough things to be invested in to want to come back for more from this series. Read Full Review

    The Comicbook Dispatch - ozwoods

    Mar 10, 2021

Amazing Spider-Man #61 is pretty much setup for the next story arc. The comic shows the main players and gives glimpses of what's at stake in this comic. Of course, there's Spider-Man's new suit which is shown off with Gleason's art and Delgado's colors, though, the mileage will vary on how fans like it. We'll see what Spencer and Gleason have in store for fans in this new story arc. Read Full Review
