With new leadership in place, the Decepticons take action in another solid issue from the Energon Universe. Johnsons writing leans into the emotional themes from a never-ending fight. If there's been one concern with the Transformers series, it's been that it doesn't feel like an anchor book of the Energon Universe. I found Duke and Cobra Commander to be much stronger in its world-building contributions. However, don't let that stop you from reading the series and this issue. Read Full Review

This is a big issue with a lot happening and developing story beats that will affect these characters going forward. And its all incredibly well done. DWJ is very good at what he does. We all know that by now. But man Jorge Corona is killing it. I couldn't have asked for another artist to take over the reigns and I csn see exactly why he was picked. He has the same sense if living vibe in his pages that Dan does.... he csn do epic action, intense burning rage, or even somber, dark sadness. And he can do it all with a cast made up of variously sized boxes. A... logical decision... indeed.

This is a masterclass in pacing. I understand why Johnson said he struggled writing this issue; there’s a lot of plot to advance and a lot of emotional beats to cover, all of which could have been painfully tedious if handled by a less talented writer. 8 issues in and I’m still in awe of this series.

Another hit issue by Daniel Warren Johnson. This continues to be one of the best title out right now. The familiar world of the Transformers is becoming anew under the helm of DWJ. I find myself finding new favorites in Arcee & Clifjumper.

Another amazing issue. Jetfire with the 'Please dont leave, its so dark' moment hit pretty hard. Decepticons with a competent leader is a scary sight to behold for very different reasons than when Starscream led it. And Prime slowly fusing with the dad's memories is very interesting and I wish to see where that goes. Carly is annoying this issue but honestly its really in character and given everything she is going through totally understandable. Her becoming an Iron Apprentice is also something I am curious what the implications will be. This is still my favourite book (really all the energon universe) to come out each month. DJW is the best writer out there right now.

I feel similar to how I felt with the previous issue about this one, though I did think the moments themselves were stronger here. Corona still draws everything well, also.
