Blood & Thunder #4

Issue four takes the story in a completely different direction. We end up on a different planet and with no Blood & Thunder. Benito Cereno takes a gamble on introducing some new concepts and story elements. Which is a good set up for whats to come as the story evolves and continues. However, the complete unfamiliarity with the characters and whats going on is kind of confusing. In the long run it will probably connect and make sense, but here and now it seems out of place. For fans of what has been presented so far with Blood & Thunder, this was an odd diversion with a weirder sudden stop ending. For the sake of seeing where it goes, it's worth waiting on the next issue before making any sweeping statements, but this could easily be a jumping off point for some readers. Read Full Review

I've been enjoying this book so far, but this issue was a bit too abrupt of a shift. I had to close the book a couple times and look at the cover just to make sure I wasn't mistaken about what I was reading. Needed some sort of connective tissue to the main characters/story. It wasn't poorly made, just too out of left field. Hope the next issue makes things clearer.

I gotta say Blood & Thunder #4 is keeping me on this title for one more issue. The story moved completely away from our titular characters and it was a breath of fresh air. While I believe this story takes place in the past, setting up our main villain … I still enjoyed it way more than the previous issue. I’m gonna hang on for issue five hoping that it continues to get better. Benito Cereno proved he is a better writer than the first 3 issues let on - so I am giving him another look. I still don’t recommend the series … but there may yet be a glimmer of hope.

Kind of a slow issue that feels like a totally different book. It’s cool to expand your universe but I think this is too early for an entire issue without the main character or the storyline we’ve been dealing with up to now. I read this yesterday and this morning completely forgot I even got this issue.
