Wonder Woman #75

This is a really good issue. The action is a lot of fun. It's cool to see Wonder Woman fight Grail again and I always love seeing the Amazons in action. My only real complaint is the inconsistency in the art although I understand it was probably necessary to get it out on time. I'm still not a huge fan of Xermanico's art but it doesn't detract too much from the issue which I think is really enjoyable. Read Full Review

At the end of the day, this arc started strong, but ended without delivering much more than a few battles. I enjoyed the side stories leading up to the end much more, and those stories got more to the heart of who Diana is than the main one ultimately did. I'm excited to see where Wilson will take the title now with Diana reunited with the Amazons. That's been a core component of the character and was definitely missed. The Year of the Villain tie-in sets up what could be an interesting story although it again speaks to the need for a deeper Rogues Gallery for Wonder Woman. Read Full Review

Overall, the art was phenomenal (like always in this book) while the issue itself was well-paced. However, the comic wrapped everything up too cleanly and devalued every other issue prior to making the journey seem even less significant. The key players picked up along the way barely did anything at all and the evil villain behind it all was basically one-punched to victory. After 50 years of being away from Themyscira, this reviewer just expected a more epic journey as well as a more epic battle to bring our princess home. Read Full Review

Wonder Woman is my favorite superhero of all time & I hate seeing her series in the hands of a mediocre writer. This was nowhere near the level of ‘epic’ that was warranted for this issue, but at least the art made up for G Willow Wilson’s weak script. Give WW the A-list writer she deserves!

I swear, someone sat Wilson down and had the Come To Jesus Talk with her. "Willow, this Mayberry stuff has to end." Because it ended just like that, and the past couple issues have been trying to get back to the noble warrior thing that makes WW unique, cool and fun. My concern is that what we're seeing is peak Wilson...and the book still isn't what it could be. It's light years better, but it's still not great.
