Wonder Woman is one of the Trinity that is DC. As such, her book and the talent on there, should rival both Batman and the upcoming Bendis explosion that is Action #1000. However, taking a step back, readers can see how much better Detectivehas beenthan Batman, with thelatter still having a couple of misfires, and Dan Jurgenscontinued work in the world Superman has impressed many. Robinson may not be the attention grabber that Greg Rucka was, but his Wonder Woman book can hold its own with the likes of James Tynion IV and Dan Jurgens and that is pretty good company to hang with. I really enjoyed this issue that had this summer blockbuster feel to it with some spectacular art by Emanuela Lupacchino who helps bring James Robinson's story to life. Robinson has a great grasp on all the characters involved, particularly Wonder Woman and her antagonist Darkseid. At times, the dialogue is a little clucnky but for the most part, Robinson creates an epic story with some of the greats of the DCU. Read Full Review

This issue was light on character work, but still managed to work in a few satisfying moments while giving the audience the action it had been sorely missing the last few issues. If Robinson can continue this pace for the remaining issues of the arc, he should be able to deliver a pleasing conclusion that would make up for the weak start to the story. Read Full Review

Wonder Woman #44 is an exciting read that will keep readers entertained. It ends with a chilling cliffhanger that will make readers want to stick around for the next issue. As I mentioned before, this issue is action-packed. The issue primarily focuses on the action and little else. There are some references to Wonder Woman's shortcomings, such as being too weak to face Darkseid alone. It does seem that that very subject will be addressed in the next issue or in later Wonder Woman installments. Given the ending, it seems likely that Wonder Woman will face at least one of her fears in the next issue. Read Full Review

Wonder Woman #44 is a fun comic. I cant take that away from it. Despite the narrative meandering throughout the runtime, the dialogue tripping over itself, and the pacings near lack of existence, Diana v. Darkseid makes this book tentatively recommendable. Its fun, and the artists do a great job of making the visuals presentable. Feel free to pick it up for a fun-if-shallow read. Read Full Review

While I love the art in this issue and find the fight that we get in it kind of satisfying, the overall issue was lacking, especially to where we needed to go by the end.  Hopefully things turn around for this series because it should be way more enjoyable than this, even though this is probably one of the more enjoyable issues that we've gotten in awhile...which isn't saying much. The artwork for this issue was lovely, as always. The fight scenes were well done, especially the one between Diana and Darkseid (I swear I'm not just saying that because I got to see her punch him in the face). The last panel was particularly striking and does a great job at making sure we'll want to come back for the next issue to see what happens. Read Full Review

Welcome to the Oblivion Bar where the first round is on me and the pretzels are free! Be warned: like the pickled eggs at the bar, this issue is going to get SPOILED rotten. Parts of this arc just seem confusing to me. Like, why did Darkseid need to transport part of Argus to the jungle in order to start is “ Stargate”? I assumed they had the relics... And what exactly do the relics do? Do they just grant access to Themyscra? And why is Darkseid trying to get there? Does he want to change them all into Amazon-Lizard-Gargoyle creatures for his army? Why doesn’t he just go back to Apokolips? Again, I feel like we just have a ton of unanswered questions just to get Darkseid in the story. Basically, the story opens with Darkseid fighting Wonder Woman and him taunting her about how she can’t defeat him on her own and how she never could. Steve Trevor helps with the parademons and Fury’s while Jason helps out with Grail , but I keep coming back to this question: where is the league? This seems like an Omega Level event and still no League to help. Really? This happens AFTER metal and before No Justice Since Justice League Odyssey has Darkseid in it full grown. So they should be available AND with Jason coming out of the blue, why would the league not look into this? We end with Grail opening the Stargate to Themyscra and walking through to change the Amazons into flying lizard-demon creatures but Diana can’t enter since she left. Thanks to a technicality, Grail can enter since she never set “foot” on Themyscra and left... I wish I knew how important this story is and where it’s going. I feel like Darkseid, Grail, and Jason are only in it for flash, flare, and excitement. But it just sputters. When Darkseid is in a comic, I feel like it should be universal and Worldbreaking but that doesn’t seem to be the case here. Regardless of what I’ve said and the questions I have, It’s not a bad comic. I’m just having a hard time seeing the more

I'm with you there. Darkseid needs to be a world ending threat and this issue was very underwhelming...the art is so good though!

Agreed the art is fantastic! Darkseid should draw the attention of everyone not just Argus and Wonder Woman. I want more.. thanks for the reply!
