Titans feels creatively refreshed and re-energised with a new creative team. John Layman eases in to a new era with a neat reset bridging the gap between Absolute Power and what comes next. Likewise, Pete Woods artwork skilfully puts his stamp on the book and these characters without reinventing the wheel. Consider me very excited for the future of the Titans. Read Full Review

Staying All In so I checked out Titans #16 … so many questions, but first - I enjoyed this issue. I have to say that I loved that it started on the Watchtower right after the (lackluster) events of the All In special. I like when continuity is on-point. I’m not that familiar with the character - but I didn’t really understand why the Question was acting so irrationally. Her behavior was beyond the scope of a normal person. Not much happened in this issue, mostly all setup, establishing the new status quo. The thrust was establishing the team and getting them back to Titans’ Tower to meet up with the baddie for this story arc. It wasn’t action packed, yet at the same time it was never dull. I haven’t read Titans since aro und the time of the New 52 relaunch - and I’m confused. Starfire seems de-aged physically to younger than she was in the 80s - same with Raven, yet Nightwing & Wonder Girl seemed age appropriate - I don’t get it. Also last time I saw Beast Boy in Dark Crisis - he lost an eye and was traumatized … I guess he got better. Even if the characters seemed off - it was worth the read and I’ll be back for issue 17. My only real complaint was that some of the coloring choices were distracting. more

I didn't dislike this new start, but there isn't much here so far except for Wally, Aqualad, and Dick leaving the team to put Donna in charge. I'm not against that, but it would have been better if it correlated more toward the Nightwing book where there might be a crossover in the future. Instead, it was - "I need a break." Which is lame and uninspired. The entire scene on the Watchtower could have been deleted completely and no one would have noticed. Is the Clock King really this powerful? Disappointing start with very generic writing and the art wasn't working for me. I'll give it another issue in hopes it gets better.

Titans #16 I was pleased with the way it began. When all the other teams joined the Justice League, I haven't considered what would happen to them. Then it took a turn for the worst. You would think Beast Boy would be slightly more careful after Beast World's happenings, wouldn't you? Even though I thought the writing was a touch off-putting, I still preferred it to Tom Taylor's run. The only true upside to the whole situation, in my opinion, was Donna. I'm eager to observe Donna's reaction to taking over as Titans leader.

There were some questionable decisions in this issue,starting with Wally quitting the team and Dick stepping back and blaming himself for Waller, and continuing with showcasing the Titans as incompetent and suggesting they are no longer relevant as a team once the JL are back. I'll probably drop this book and wait for the next run.
