Titans #23

Overall I thought Titans #23 was a good read. It's great that team is back together and I love the addition of Steel to the team as well. A relative of John Henry Irons, she's proven in this issue already that she belongs on the team and I can't wait to see more of her. My only hope however is that we see the return of Roy Harper at some point. I always enjoyed the relationship between Roy and Grayson, as Roy has a tendency to shake things up on the team. While its plot has a few confusing elements and some of the characterization falters a bit, TITANS #23 is largely a fantastic reintroduction to the team. With a deeper focus on the more human elements of these superhumans, this is a really interesting new direction for the series. Read Full Review

Titans #23 is the continuation of an ongoing story told through the formation of a new team. Still, the implications of past narratives run deep. I fear new readers will struggle to connect without a thorough introduction to prior events. Thanks to recent media, such as the highly acclaimedYoung Justice cartoon, readers may find familiarity with Miss Martian. Despite the misguided drive of the masses, the strengths of this book are almost too many to cite without spoilers. I would definitely recommend picking up this issue for the read. If you must speculate on this issue there are three different covers; the Cover A is drawn by Brandon Peterson; however the DC comics Cover B have been the most popular so definitely consider picking that one up drawn by Stjepan Sejic; but the one that will be the hardest to find will be the Cover C sketch cover drawn by Brandon Peterson (1:20) . The art was ok, and the story didn't move the needle or have a great hook moving forward. The dialogue between the characters was average, and Abnett didn't progress the story forward at all. Not to mention, parts of the art just came off weird and out of place. Read Full Review

The return of Titans to a regular schedule did not excite all that much, and this is mainly due to Metal fatigue. Do readers still want to explore the effects of a post Metal war each and every month in a comic like Titans? Or do they want Titans to stand on its own two feet and go back to what Titans is all about, namely family, friendship, drama, and inappropriate humour - all whilst saving the day. Titans #23 isnt among my favorite issues of the series, but its a good start for this new era of the team. It sets up the kind of stories that will be told and shows the new team chemistry. Titans #23 was a good start to the new direction that Dan Abnett is taking the new roster he has created. From the beginning Abnett hits the ground running as he waste no time in having the Titans tackle the current problems going on in the DC Universe following the events of No Justice. This first outing for our new Titans team left a lot to be desired.  Where we could have had fun, we had death, where we could have had teamwork, we had bickering.  It's like the series is going out of its way to be dull and I'm sad to say that maybe this iteration of the Titans just isn't for me.  Hopefully that changes as the series progresses, but this issue just didn't do it for me at all. It is such a relief to see the Titans treated with respect again. It looks like Metal gave them a proper role in the Reborn universe after 22 issues of disappointing art and storylines. This roster and plot resemble the Young Justice animated series, and FINALLY get them to do something beaidesother than endlessly wonder about why they’re together.

Disappointing! I've always been a Titans fan and this one was really missing something! The are was not at all what I would expect, either. I've seen much better stuff from Brandon Peterson in the past.

The script is OK, but whoa, the artwork is all over the place. I tried this as a jumping on point, jumped right off.

Oh god. Not only that the story is an absolute mess, the artwork makes it even more difficult to follow. This wasn't a good read. The previous team worked a lot better, whereas this one is just boring to read. This was only a first issue in the arc, and I really hope (and actually believe) that the book will improve.

That was better than I feared with the sneak peek. For now I find Natacha a little too stedback. I have trouble with this Donna Troy (Not mine) since her first appearance in the new univers. Surprisingly I like this Raven. But I have the need to slap Nightwing a lot. He isn't Batman, so why using him like he was Batman for damn sake. Even as Batman he never was Bruce. I'm worried about too thing a romance between Raven & Garfield once more. And that Ms.Marvel will be a traitor (See Superman 1). That said I'm not that teased by the end & will not take the next issue. Sorry ! Cover - The variant (Like it even if Raven is not really nicely draw). Not related, for that I should have take the Regular. 1/2 Writing - I don't like the two sto ry in one. That was a lot to process & I understand that fact only at the end. I believe that was what Peterson wanted, but that was hard to follow. 2.5/3 Arts - Peterson is one of the good drawer, but I think he should let a inker in. I believe do the writing & all the art alone was too much. So sometime the panel are not as good as that can be. Oh I would kill for drawing like him. Just that wasn't as perfect as if someone ease his job. Also there is a lot of panel where he cheat with color for giving background. I understand that he can do more, but that was disappointing. 2/3 Feeling - I'm not hook. I would have loved recognize the Titans I loved. But that wasn't close at all. 0/2 more
