Again, I have loved Batman: Black & White, Superman: Red & Blue and Wonder Woman: Black & Gold. This arena works well for all fans who want a series of stories outside of the typical timeline that provides both historical adventures, as well as new authors and artists. I first became aware of this title after it received three Eisner nominations in 2022: Best Anthology, Best Writer/Artist (Daniel Warren Johnson), and Best Short Story ("Generations" by Daniel Warren Johnson). The 8-page "Generations" story by Daniel Warren Johnson was simply AMAZING. It reflected a pure love for the character and a beautiful message. Because it is an anthology book, I ranked each of the stories individually: Fetch - 9/10 De-escalation - 8/10 Your Favorite - 8/10 Red Sun...Blue Dot - 9/10 Generations - 10/10

Everything a fan can love about Superman is here. Gotta be honest, as a guy who can't help seeing a dog give love to lonely people it hit me in places. Plus Clark Kent interactions with the people around him including his father Jonathan make him feel as heroic in just his street clothes.

Great issue, though I'm actually amazed that someone's criticism of this issue is that someone was seen wearing a mask. Holy fuck I thought people on the left were supposed to be sensitive ones, my word. Please grow up.

Great issue. Better than most of DC's anniversary giants. Daniel Warren Johnson's Pa Kent story is the best. Having said that, I think the Mark Buckingham and Chris Sprouse stories were not well-served by the weird coloring. I can understand doing a black and white Batman book, but the coloring gimmick in this book doesn't work for stories where the artists just draw the contours.

I have hated the previous books in this series, however this issue got it right. I enjoyed every story and do you know why? It kept politics or SJW issues out of the book. Well done, a gem book in a era of garbage comics.

This issue was surprisingly satisfactory compared to the rest of this series. The first story makes me wonder, just how old is Krypto now? God, I hate when they put Jor-El in a Superman costume, cape and all. Otherwise it was a nice story. The second was an example of how as Clark he still keeps a cool head in times of trouble. Even if he was stuck as Bruce Wayne, Batman would've found a way to beat the guy up and send him off to jail. But Superman reminded us that's not his style. The third story was a little less interesting, but decent enough. Who'd have thought Jimmy's favorite Superman photo would have been taken by accident? The fourth is one we've all heard before, but it proves that no matter what continuity, the last moments on Krypton are usually relatively the same. Pa Kent's story may not have had the best artwork, but he was drawn more as I remember him. A very welcome sight compared to how he's been done the last 15 or so years based on movies and Smallville. It also has a touching end. I think what makes this issue stand out is the depth it gives and spotlights familiar characters. Most of what you see here has been from the P.O.V. of someone we never heard of recalling their meeting with Superman. that's a bit monotonous and just not as interesting as something featuring those we already know. more

I genuinely can't get over how much of a crybaby Merlyn is in his review. You should really get some therapy if one panel makes you go off like that. Sadistic? Lmao. The stories here are mostly pretty good. Fetch is really cute. I really like how G. Willow Wilson writes Clark in De-Escalation. Your Favorite was fine but not... my favorite. Red Sun...Blue Dot looks great and Generations is heartfelt (and not at all sadistic, you weirdo).

I liked it up until that last page from Warren Johnson's story where he couldn't resist the need to remind us that we live in a pandemic and he thought necessary to draw masks on people's faces. Why did he need to torture us with that after some hopeful stories, I don't know, seems pretty sadistic to me. It's not enough the world is how it is, screw escapism, let's not give people one second of a breather and remind them of that in comics too. That's not to say I encourage people not to wear a mask, do it, I do it most of the times, I just don't understand this incessant need to pull people even further in this instead of helping them forget about it at least for a second.
