Aug 11, 2020SUPERMAN #24 wrapped up this arc in an unexpected way. It was great getting to see Superman team up with a purely magical character. Read Full Review

Aug 11, 2020There are a lot of double-page spreads in this oversized comic, but too many of them are just static shots without any real action. Read Full Review

Aug 17, 2020I understand these are superhero comics so we need extradimensional punches and magical threats. I wish we got a single issue of Superman just talking to Dr. Fate about his problems without the villainous plot. And the Xanadoth threat comes and goes so quickly, I felt shortchanged by it, even if I thought of it more like the subplot! I know ... Xanadoth isn't gone. Maybe this was an amuse bouche to whet my appetite for more. Read Full Review

Aug 11, 2020Kevin Maguire and John Timms do some good work with the art, but the story really relegates them to crafting panels showing the characters preparing to act rather than being active. Read Full Review

Aug 16, 2020Since the start of Bendis' run on Superman, the writing has been all over the place. Some issues have been great and others… well not so great. Superman #24 seems to fall somewhere in the middle. There's the makings of an excellent story in here, but somehow it comes out as good, but not great. Read Full Review

Aug 11, 2020While I enjoyed the art in this issue, there wasn't much else to really sink your teeth into besides for a "wow" moment that might hook some, with Superman and Doctor Fate combining their powers. It's really just smoke and mirrors though to hide the fact that this new villain was lame as hell, and there really wasn't much of a story here. Read Full Review

Aug 12, 2020Superman#24 is a mostly forgettable issue. A seemingly important antagonist shows up only to leave shortly after. This Xanadoth arc was clearly a filler story and it reads like one. If you miss Superman this week you aren't missing much. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - David Harth
Aug 13, 2020Superman #24 is kind of mystifying, which should be a good thing for a magic story but isn't. It's sort of cliche and could have been more interesting if Bendis went full Bendis on it instead of tacking on an action plot with a new villain that is lackluster at best. The art is pretty good, so there's that. It's not a terrible comic, but it's nothing special. Read Full Review

Aug 11, 2020Next issue is being hyped as a big milestone issue, but simply reaching issue 25 for the latest relaunch of The Man of Steel doesnt seem to be something worth celebrating. Considering how drastically hes upended everything with Superman, Im more concerned how Bendis is going to shake up everything once again. Read Full Review
