Supergirl #32 does not end the story of justice for Krypton, but it does add another layer to it. Supergirl doesn't get a satisfying resolution from her long quest for the truth, nor does she gain her immediate goal. So many things to appreciate about this issue, but I think what makes it most impressive is that it appears so easy and light. The visuals and narrative are all so clean and precise that it comes off as one of those tales that writes itself. The focus is shifting from this issue. The bright colored action takes us readers through the ringer, getting the intense action we'd expect from an issue this cosmic. The villains responsible are coming closer and closer to Supergirl's grasp. With the storyline closing up, the visions of that conversation looming on our mind, anything could happen as a result. Andreykos story has been lurching through the first half of the year, occasionally coming across with brilliance and sometimes feeling strangely dull. With this issue, Andreyko regains a sense of power and impact about the series that will hopefully launch it in a good direction for chapters to come. Maguire really aids the series. He seems to have a much better grasp of how to bring Andreykos story to the page in a way that feels interesting. Read Full Review

Supergirl #31 is another fine issue that is bogged down by wordiness and a lack of character. The action is well-done thanks to clean panel structures and animated art, but that's about the only thing that I loved about this issue. Supergirl gives us a fairly basic and “by the numbers” issue this month as we get our classic monologuing villain that leads into a big fight scene. Some really great art in this issue really brings this battle to life and it really is great to look at. Unfortunately, the rest of the issue is just very basic. Not bad, but not good either. The pacing is the strength of this issue, it's an easy read that works well as, other than page one, we're not to bogged down with exposition. We're treated to different threats that our heroes, despite their powers, do not have an easy time taking down. The strange goings on of this world are something that neither of them is prepared for. Anyways, this thing looks more bug-like, a nice look. And I guess I'll see where this goes. So on the plus side, Kara likes Earth again. She works well with Jon. She wasn't eager to kill. But so much happens so quickly, I felt a bit unsatisfied. And that faceplant is idiotic. Read Full Review

This issue surprised me in a lot of ways. The way Rogol Zaar terminated the Empress for instance. Jon with his aunt Kara, the family chemistry here is super cool.

Very entertaining this issue. I like the team up of Supergirl with Jon and Krypto. And shocking death of Gandelo. Pd: I was surprised for the return of Z'ndr, I hope to see more stories of him, especially with Supergirl (I ship them lol).

A fine issue, if not a bit unsatisfying. We've been building up this villain for a while and Rogol Zaar offing them within minutes is not a good payoff.

Holy expository pages, Batman! That second splash page ("Earlier") looks like the writer threw up. The back and forth witty banter between Supergirl and Superboy is forced and intrusive to the story. As to the story itself, we learn that Gandelo is evil and tricky...and, thanks to Zaar, dead. Zaar is obsessed with getting his axe back, which Supergirl valiantly tries to prevent. Doesn't end so well, hence the pre-Year of the Villain interlude cliffhanger. I've enjoyed Kevin Maguire's work over the years. Nice, clean lines, good character work, excellent expressions and good page composition. He has the chops from his Justice League run to make some of the books' jokes work, but the execution of said jokes is just tired. Is it on him? On the writer? Something isn't right. more
