The story Andreyko and Maguire are delivering here has great potential. With Supergirl now on a quest across the universe, she could be on a journey all over the place. This could be a really refreshing tour through the cosmic end of the DC Universe that might touch on everything from the most popular stuff to the most obscure, as well as a very emotionally engaging journey into the alien end of the universe with Maguires art. Superbly written and spectacularly illustrated, featuring a Supergirl who is coming into her own as a hero to be admired, respected, and reckoned with, this is hands down the best book coming out of the Superman family of books and shouldn't be missed. Read Full Review

The art by Kevin Maguire is quite excellent. He is an odd fit for this book and that's what makes it work. The expressions and body language for the characters are all excellent here. Supergirl (2016-) #23 starts slow with a lot of exposition, then picks up the pace as Supergirl begins her breakout of the Green Lantern Corps. Well-written and drawn wonderfully, the only thing that could have improved this comic would be some more depth to the secondary characters, as well as another setting or two to display how Supergirl truly is on a cosmic quest across the galaxy for the truth about Krypton's destruction. I view Supergirl in much the same way as Batgirl; both characters deserve to have great creative teams, delivering the best stories. For both books, that creative team change has come with this team having a few more issues of Supergirl under their belt than their Gotham based counterparts. I don't know how to put it all together. It seems like story points just happen to occur to keep Supergirl in space. A gem treasure hunt to gather Apsa's confession? A rebuilt ship? Mogo keeping silent? Kara's anger? All seems arranged to keep  her off Earth. Maguire's art definitely raises the book a ton. I found myself pausing before turning the page to let everything really sink in. Luscious. It probably nudges the grade up a whole letter. Read Full Review

While this book only has a couple of long scenes, I still found it very entertaining. It didn't reveal enough of the mystery in my opinion but it has given me enough to be interested in seeing what happens next. And isn't that really the goal of any book? Read Full Review

As far as the rest of the issue Maguire gives us his usual brand of excellent art, but there was one thing I noted; there was a lack of backgrounds in this issue, so I'm not sure if the artist was rushed for time, or if there was just too much action for the page and Maguire wanted the reader to focus elsewhere. It's not a major distraction but one that I noticed during the first part of the comic. Read Full Review

All in all, there's nothing here to drive off those who are interested in the continuing mystery of Krypton's destruction. Fans of Supergirl, however, may find themselves hard-pressed to care about a story that is competently handled but largely lackluster. Read Full Review

If Andreyko manages to keep his current momentum with the series, everything shows it's going to be the best Supergirl run in years. It's fun, full of action, the humor is not forced and works very well with the protagonist, who I may add, is just... super. Kara is entertaining, and her quest engages the reader. My previous criticism related to art is still relevant - panels more often than not leave a lot to be desired. They are by no means terrible, but I'd welcome a bit more attention to details and backgrounds, as well as Kara's facial expressions. I keep my fingers crossed for this series. So far I'm not dissapointed, even in the slightest. You go, Kara! Up, up, and away!

I will admit I wish a fellow lantern was helping her along the way. Issue itself was pretty good. Art was fair and dialogue was nicely done!

I thought the art took another downturn. And the story isn't bad but is a bit annoying. from a base of 6, this gets a rating of: 7. +1 because: krypto! and a nice enough story going on

nah... if a book is just "meh" - good enough to get me to read the next one usually, but with nothing to complain about or nothing really good either, it gets a 6. there are various ways to get points added or removed. "confusing" gets -1, "great art" gets plus 1, etc. this book was pretty average with nothing to really move me except that between the mildly interesting story and Krypto, it got one extra point.
