With excellent artwork and solid storytelling, what we have here is truly something special that I definitely recommend picking up. So much so that I already find myself wanting to read the next issue right now. Luckily for us Supergirl fans, the next issue comes out in only one month as opposed to the four month break between Issue #20 and this issue #21, and that makes me happier than a flying dog wearing a red cape. Supergirl #21 spirals out of Man of Steel's story, but Andreyko sets up a plan to make it uniquely Kara's story as opposed to an offshoot of Clarks. Absolutely worth picking up. Read Full Review

This is a very promising start to a run that may be a better take on the whole Rogol Zaar plot than the main books. Read Full Review

The first issue of a brand new run for this book starts now and it immediately breathes new life into this dying book. Andreyko has come in after a fairly big change to the landscape of the Superman adjacent books, and new beginnings are hard to pull off. However, Andreyko has succeeded through incredible dialogue to engage the reader and make them care about Kara's new mission. The only let down from this books is the art that we're getting. Art is subjective and I'm sure there are many that will enjoy this art. I'm just not one of them. Overall though, I really enjoyed this issue. Read Full Review

Supergirl #21 is a promising new start for the Girl of Tomorrow as she begins her investigation into the death of Krypton. Marc Andreyko keeps the emotions at the forefront of the story, and Kevin Maguire, Sean Parsons, and FCO Plascencia do great work on the visuals. This one earns a recommendation. Check it out. Supergirl #21 is a fantastic jumping off point for the Girl of Steel. It provides a well-paced and smartly told story, brought to life through vivid and well-coined art. The knowledge that this book is going to weave throughout other books while maintaining its own jam-packed storyline is a very intriguing detail that makes this book a sure bet for my pull list. If you're a fan of the Kryptonian Heroes or just looking for a good title to add to your collection, I strongly recommend picking up Part One of the Killers of Krypton. Her cousin has 1,000 issues under his belt, it's time that Supergirl gets a lot more love! Read Full Review

Marc Andreyko and Kevin Maguire are an interesting pairing for this book. I enjoyed Kara's interactions with Superman and Hal Jordan (even if I've never been the biggest fan of how Maguire draws the universe's greatest Green Lantern). As for who or what is going to great lengths to hide the information that Supergirl seeks, I guess we'll just have too wait and see what she uncovers in her travels. Worth a look. Read Full Review

"Supergirl" #21 sure looks set to be a worthy addition to this new era of the 'Superman' line of books, with a strong title character in a promising adventure, portrayed in gorgeous art. While the story so far is not groundbreaking in an major sense, its honesty " both in terms of character portrayal and mission statement " will bring readers back for more. Read Full Review

That said, I just keep wishing we will get past the reimaginings of an angry Supergirl dismissing Earth and fueled by pain and sadness. Every time I think we have reached a point where we have settled into a new environment and will be reading super-hero stories starring Supergirl, we seem to reset back to the angry Supergirl mourning Krypton, feeling guilty she survived, and ready to lash out. I can only hope this direction lasts no more than a year and ends with her back on Earth, declaring it home, and defending it. This is just the first issue. We can always go up. Read Full Review

Supergirl is back, but maybe she shouldn't be. Last we saw her, she had worked to redeem herself in the eyes of the public and made the choice "to inspire and be inspired" and to build a brighter future. Unfortunately, Supergirl #21 seems to have forgotten all of that. Read Full Review
