That aside, we have a pretty strong issue. Sure, the villain of the week is nothing to cry home about, but he serves his purpose narratively. Sideways #5 was the issue we needed to see that there is still more to offer with the right steps taken towards Derek evolving as a hero, and as a person. Teen drama can bite, but sometimes its just something you have to get used to in order to get to what's actually appealing. Read Full Review

There's an overarching mystery involving Derek's mother's employers and their interest in Derek, but I wouldn't be nearly as invested if this title hadn't done a good job of getting us invested in Derek's story in the first place. They have nailed what works about a young hero with Sideways. I think this may be my favourite new hero from the New Age line.

Slight step-back with a fill-in team, but still not bad. There's not much to push the story forward but there's a lot of good characterisation.

Justin Jordan and Dan Didio started with an interesting premise but lost it fast with the politics and pushing the justified hatred narrative that is the drug of the moron masses. It is sad they had 4 solid issues and the this one is atrocious garbage. Maybe one Dan will realize that the Dark Knight is one comic story, there can be others. Maybe Justin Jordan will grow up one day and be a professional. Every story written by this guy changes characters to be a mirror of him. A writer who can't write characters that he would disagree with is at best a fan fiction writer who had enough connections and back room deals the get a job he does not deserve. At worst he is an activist who wants you to pay for propaganda. Coming from the middle east I can tell you, propaganda is free everywhere but the west. STOP paying for it and your entertainment will improve. more
