Despite the problems, Shazam is still a fun title to read. If Johns can just get it back on a regular schedule and simplify the plotline a bit, then Shazam could be the great title that the former Captain Marvel deserves. Read Full Review

With future solicitations seeming to have this series back on track, the next issue of Doomsday Clock still remains nearly three months away. While hope continues to wane for Johns getting out his scripts on time. As only one chapter remains on the title above, hopefully, the finale will allow for more time between Johns and the Big Red Cheese. Eaglesham and Kolins continue to bring excellent work to this title and help to bring the heart truly to life. Albeit incredibly late, the series continues to bring the heart and fun to the market. The only real snaffu in the issue when it comes to color is when Darla and Freddie are making their way to the Darklands, she explains that her dress is losing color… yet it’s the same color as previous panels. Small little error, but noticeable. Read Full Review

The shift from Dale Eaglesham to Scott Kolins in the back half of the issue is pretty glaring, and while both are talented artists, it breaks up the flow of the issue. Read Full Review

Dale Eaglesham's art is amazing this issue, I just wish he would have done the entire thing.  Jumping around with artists and even aspects to this story seems to be this series' thing though and sadly, it's starting to work against it.  I'm not saying that this issue is bad by any means, I just wish it could be more focused because there's not enough time to really enjoy all that Geoff Johns wants to give us.   Read Full Review

Prelude: Well, the four month wait is over. Let's get back into this, shall we? The Good: Loved the Vasquez's reactions this issue, especially Victor. Happy and accepting but concerned over where the kids are. Captain Marvel! Art is solid as well. Tawny was also great, glad to see him getting more involved in the plot. The Bad: The four month delay has hurt the book quite a bit. Also the art changed halfway so that was weird. Conclusion: A good solid issue that is Shazam. However, the delays and art change did hurt this issue.

Love the story, and how its so separated from the rest of DC. Art feels really rushed though unfortunately, idk what happened there with that and delays

Good, but it doesn't feel like a Geoff Johns book. The story moves at a snail's pace (for me at least), and guess I miss the high-stakes no-stopping action and world building that I was used to in his recent Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Justice League runs. Yes, I understand that he is obviously occupied with Doomsday Clock and Three Jokers, but I can't help feel like he wrote an outline for 3-4 issues, and stretched it out to fit 7. This will definitely read a lot better in trade.
