Dark Knight News - James Stone

    Aug 14, 2019

This issue was a thing of genuine beauty and was written and paced perfectly. The suspense built slowly, yet it never gave you time to predict what could happen at the next turn. The detail in the action sequences was complimented, as always, by the sharp vibrant colors. The whole issue has this dark orange and red tone, which sets the mood perfectly. I cannot compliment this series and issue more. Read Full Review

Justice League Odyssey took longer than its fellow Justice League books to get going, but now it's become one of the more improved titles over the last four months. With this big arc and shocking cliffhanger, the title looks to be well on its way to must-read status each month. Read Full Review

Woah, this was heavy. Darkseid's plan falls into place perfectly, he's scary and menacing as $#!+, and then there are the last few pages that totally broke my friggin' heart and I'm still sad about. We finally have a relevant issue where the important stuff happens, in a book that should have been relevant with important stuff happening this whole time, and it's sooooo gooood. And that art? Amazing. Anyways... I'm going curl up in the fetal position and cry in the shower now. Read Full Review

Ouch, I think the Odyssey team may have taken more of a licking than the actual Justice League fighting to stop this impending doom. We all knew that Darkseid was going to knock them down a peg, but you couldn't have expected how easily that would be for him by the end of Justice League Odyssey #12. Next month should be very interesting, because there is no guessing how they will overcome this loss. Read Full Review

Black Nerd Problems - Morgan Hampton

The Odyssey team faced an impossible task as they geared up to face a calculated Darkseid that's planned out every move that's taken place since the beginning of the series. The only intangible is Green Lantern Jessica Cruz. But she may not be enough. Read Full Review

Dan Abnett and Will Conrad give this issue an appropriately epic feel, but I really hope that the last page is somehow a misdirect. Otherwise, this issue is going to leave a bunch of fans really upset. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Nancy Northcott

This issue is mostly a series of fights leading to a major development and the next stage of this arc. The individual battles are believable, if sometimes perfunctory, with Jessica's really standing out. She is the only Leaguer who really gets a chance to show her mettle. The story would've been better with less verbose narration from Darkseid and more internal reactions from the heroes. Read Full Review

I knew it, Dan Abnett must have had this for the ultimate conclusion from the very first time he started writing JLO. It was all Darkseid, his plans all along, every single thing since Cyborg, Starfire and Azrael got on board. This is like the perfect Rebirth of Darkseid. Poor Jessica, she doesn't deserve this death but in the end she had it coming, who was she kidding? This is Darkseid she was facing all alone in the end. Cyborg - the code that activates Sepulkore, Starfire - the Fire that lights up Sepulkore pit, and Azrael - the Faith that creates Para-Angels. 3 important principles of Darkseid's Domain, Technology, Power and Belief. Genius writing!

This was a really good issue? I can't believe it. Was it worth 11 issues of boredom at best, frustration at worst? I don't know. But for now, I guess I can be happy that it wasn't 12 issues of waste.

Great issue. Finally something happens. Darkseid finally gets his full power back& yes it would be awesome, if I didnt know, that DC is going to mess this up in future issues. I bet Darkseid will be beaten again in the dumbest way possible& by the dumbest people. Being a fan of Darkseid is so frustrating these days.

Finally, the God of Evil has returned! This series has shown a lot of improvement since Abnett took the reins. Wasn't expecting the Jessica Cruz moment and I'm satisfied that Darkseid is treated like a true threat instead of the abomination that was his appearance in Robinson's Wonder Woman. Fun issue overall.
