The issue wraps with an somewhat ominous note of finality — with all the DC titles that have been cancelled lately, it's hard not to get concerned with a happy ending. I was overall satisfied with the conclusion of Justice League Dark #28. Couldn't have pictured a better ending for this story because it perfectly took advantage of everything this team overcame to fight against the odds. A fantastic finale for this series of Justice League Dark. The story Ram V has written for this issue serves a great way to wrap up the tale of the Upside-Down man that James Tynion started at the beginning of the series as well as dealing with Zatanna's guilt over her father's death. The characters are all well-written, especially Zatanna and Detective Chimp who are highlights of the issue. The art by Nahuelpan isn't as creative as past issues but it's still a beautiful sight and does a terrific job of illustrating the story. The lettering is good too with a nice variety of speech bubbles being used to different effects that add to the overall presentation of the story. A brilliant ending for a brilliant series. While the art continues to be really good and fun throughout, the conclusion to our Upside-Down Man story kind of falls short in my opinion. This magical monster and the world he encompasses is just kind of thrown aside and makes this threat feel way smaller than he ever should have for all the build-up we've had over the last two years.   Read Full Review

I actually thought this was a really great finale. I do have some gripes with how much everything seems reset by the end, but still, I really thought this was well done.

It's good that Zatana finally got to shine against Upside Down Man even if it was slightly undermined by her needing Wonder Woman to help solve the problem again. I'm glad DC let Diana get more spotlight and lead a team outside her own book, however I don't want her to be a permanent JLD member. My main criticism in this otherwise good run has been Zee playing second fiddle to her, let Zee be the leader now.

This was all really well written, and handing it off to Ram V did not change that, however I do wish Upside Down Man was as scary as he was in the start of the run. Instead he started feeling like any other cosmic level villain.

Sadly, the road to get here to the "epic" showdown with Upside Down man was more than a little bumpy. I'm still disappointed the rest of the Otherkind were swept away without any fanfare but oh well. Taking this issue on it's own merits it is well written and V continues to display great dynamics amongst the team. But as a finale to the series' main villain it could've been better. But now that the Upside Down Man is finished I do hope Ram V gets to tell more of his own stories again without being too tethered to Tynion's dangling plot threads.
