All in all, Justice League Dark #17 was a great issue for those of us who wanted a bit more depth from Circe. This by no way means that we need to sympathize with her, but it always goes a long way to understand what goes through her mind when she decides that this is what it means to have power and be in control. This issue has some beautiful imagery from Javi Fernandez. Everything from the characters to the backgrounds is filled with awesome contrasting light and dark images and the final page is gorgeously disturbing. Read Full Review

It's still a good read, but it's less demanding and feels like a little bit of a lull in a series that has generally been very engaging. Still, the magic/horror superhero story has built up to a final face that will be very entertaining if nothing else, but we'll have to wait one more month to see the pay off. Read Full Review

James Tynion IV and Javi Fernandez hit another home run withJustice League Dark #17. Tynion does a great job pacing the story of "The Witching War" out to maximize the impact of Circe and the Injustice League Dark's direct attack on the Justice League Dark. How it all turned out builds anticipation on what the status quo for both teams will be after all is said and done in "The Witching War." Read Full Review

This issue has definitely been designed to serve as an intermission before the climax of the witching war storyline but it has good art, good writing and I have no complaints after reading it. It's a solid issue. Read Full Review

While I was having fun with this issue by the end, the first half of this book was a bit of a slog to get through as it just reiterated what we already knew, while completely glossing over Man-Bat's possession/transformation to get there.  Also, I wasn't a fan of the art this issue, which is a shame because usually if I'm not into the story I could always count on the art being top notch.  This is a mixed bag to be sure, but thankfully this did enough to keep me excited for next issue. Prelude: Justice League Dark has continuously been one of my favourite titles, so let's see how this issue goes. The Good: Circe's origin here was really well done and her temporary deception was cool too. Bobo as always works out what's gone wrong. Also that scene shows how Circe sees Wonder Woman and it shows the difference between the two. THAT WAS FREAKING DARK ZEE! Goddamn! Upside-Down Man is back!!!!! Fernandez's art was phenomenal this issue. The Bad: I freaking loved this issue. So no, there isn't anything bad. Conclusion: Another interstellar issue from Tynion and Fernandez. Creative, well-written and drawn, this series is easily one of DC's best books.

By the cliffhanger, things started happening that I found cool. But man,this series is sort of a slog. I don't care about Circe or the Injustice League Dark.

Weak issue compared to the others, but Circe's story was cool, and Zatanna reopening her mouth was pretty metal.
