The real star here, though, is Xermanico and his detailed art, creating a powerful visual scale that makes this feel like a surreal post-apocalyptic hellscape. DC has kept the tie-ins limited, with only one per week for Death Metal, and they're making every one count. Read Full Review

This is a good second part of the "Doom Metal" story arc. Justice League #54 is entirely different under the guise of Death Metal, but it's an interesting twist if you give it a chance. It also houses a closer look at Nightwing that should interest fans of the character. Read Full Review

While I do wish that some of the art in this issue was detailed a bit more, I'm having a fun time with this Death Metal tie-in. It's not only showing us more of the world of the Metalverse but showcasing different characters in their pursuit to win smaller battles in the overall war while our Trinity are going after the bigger problems in the main event.   Read Full Review

I gotta say, I dunno how I got stuck with some of the genuinely good Death Metal tie-ins. I have a lot of issues with the main story " a lot " but the concepts that all of these creators have been throwing around have potential, and it's been nice to read a story that's happy to follow-through with some of those concepts, without seeming like they're rushing them beyond belief. Justice League has finally found a regular writer. Unfortunately, the title is immediately thrown into a crossover. While the book is decent, and you can enjoy it without reading Death Metal, it still suffers from not having a focus. Xermancios art does elevate the book into being worth a purchase regardless. Justice League #54 is another effective tie-in to Dark Nights: Death Metal. Joshua Williamson and Xermanico make full use of the setting to give us a Mad Max-style adventure with a unique Justice League team. I liked this issue. It's weird how my opinion on Williamson is so all over the place lately. Maybe Flash was a bad fit for him? I don't know. This wasn't an amazing issue, or anything, just really fun.

Its good fun. A little corny but it has a certain charm to it. Good read that kept me interested. Valley of Starros was a really cool visual.
