While Hal and Guy have some important moments as they learn a little bit about themselves, the obstacles they overcome don't last long enough to be as meaningful as they should be. After this issue, things are back on track a little too quickly. However, Hal and Guy's character moments are very strong and important to understanding something deeper about themselves. All-in-all this was a great issue. Venditti doesn't let us forget the strength of willpower, the driving force behind the Green Lanterns. There was not too much action in this issue, but you can tell big things are about to happen. The artwork is detailed, bright, and colorful. Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #47 is another rock solid issue of this very consistent series. The Darkstars have turned out to be a terrific foil for the Green Lantern Corps and is just the kind of adversary that the Green Lantern franchise needed. Hal has an introspective moment that stalls his getting to the Darkstars, but this is still a solid read. The other characters also have their concluding moments before blasting off to fight the deadly force, but Hal's scenes go on for a long time. The visuals are outstanding and I hope to see all return to another title, hopefully a monthly, as soon as possible. The book ends with the beginning of the end. Read Full Review

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #47 throws some nice twists and emotional moments to wrap up this recruitment drive before the Darkstars showdown. This Darkstar plot has been absolutely fascinating. They've done a good job of creating an enemy that both threatens and reflects the Lanterns. They're what the Lanterns could have become, if they chose to let go of their ideals and sense of justice. That's what makes them so terrifying, in their own way. The conclusion to this plot should be interesting, though it'd be nice of the Darkstars become a lingering and repeating threat to the corps. Read Full Review

I will not speak too much of the last part of the issue as it gives away too much and honestly, if you love this series, please go read it for yourself. This was a great issue and really builds things up to be an epic conclusion. I love what Venditti and his art team has done with this story as the two just work so well together. With a great story and amazing art this issue earns 4 stars. The end of this story arc is coming and it could end up being one of my favorites stories from Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #47 was a great character study for Hal and Guy Gardner. Robert Venditti's understanding of both characters came through extremely well as he gave Hal and Guy personal arcs that made them stronger than when "Darkstars Rising" started. Given how the Darkstars are now ready to launch a full strike it is going to be exciting to see how Venditti pays off all the recruiting the Green Lanterns did to gather allies for the upcoming battle on Mogo. The predicaments the Green Lantern Corps found themselves in in previous issues seem to have been resolved and hopefully they can now get back into the fight. Hal and Guy found themselves in situations that I found fascinating initially, but the way Venditti decided to resolve their plights left a lot more to be desired for me. I continue to not really care about anything involving Kyle, but I was disappointed to not see any John Stewart in this issue. Luckily (or maybe unluckily) for the Green Lantern Corps, the Darkstars are on the attack and this can provide an opportunity for the Lanterns and their recruits to retaliate. Read Full Review

Overall the issue, and the arc in general, both swims and sinks due to Venditti's atypical storytelling. And as usual he ends the issue with just the right oomph to make me want the next one. Out of all the serialized superhero books (and its biweekly!) on the stands Hal & the GL has been the most enjoyable and I'm legit bummed that it's ending. Get it while it's hot. Read Full Review

Venditti keeps knocking them out of the part, he sure knows how to go out on a high note. Each lantern overcomes his personal challenge in his own way. Hal and Guy are particularly captivating. I'm really glad that the friendship between Guy and Arkillo continues to be relevant to the plot. This artist is god too, especially with backgrounds.

Really enjoying how Venditti is pulling everything together. The momentum is there for a big ending to this series.

I am not entirely sure what was going on with Hal. Really liked the stuff with Guy, though. But can we please get on to the battle with the Darkstars?
