Payoff on this story begins in this penultimate issue. The trauma in Jessica's past is revealed, Simon encounters several new foes in a strange place, and one character makes a change for the worst. I was especially pleased with Power Ring of Earth-3 and want to see more of him anywhere. I really enjoyed this and I can't wait to see how Seeley resolves the conflicts. More, please! This was a very weird, but fun issue. Jessica and Simon's struggles within the Power Ring are separate but linked experiences that could prove disastrous for Jessica's status as a Green Lantern. Green Lanterns #46 is a great installment in this series, and its breathing life back into the book after the lackluster 'Superhuman Trafficking' arc. This story is personal, visceral, and painful. It works in a sense to let Simon come to a realization that he needed to in order to save Jessica. My hope is that the story progresses in a way that allows for that confrontation to have meaning for both characters. I enjoy the fact that Seeley is taking the time to explore the characters and Marion's art enhances the story with great visual flair and details. Read Full Review

There's a great story going on here and while it's sometimes bogged down with the comic book fight that has to happen, the overall plot that we're getting here is probably the best arc of Green Lanterns that we've seen so far and when combined with fantastic art.......... This has been a really interesting plot so far. I'll admit that while I was really (morbidly) curious about Jess' past I didn't expect it to be like that. For some reason I thought I had a good grasp on what happened, but her reliving the memory proved that there was still a way to surprise us readers, and man did they ever. If you think that you wouldn't care seeing her friends (ones that were dead before the start of the series) die like that, then you're in for a surprise. It turns out you don't need to know them that well to fear for them, or to feel their pain. It was terrifyingly well done, especially considering the current social climate. Green Lanterns #46 is one of the best issues of the series thus far, showing the reader the stark contrast between the Jessica Cruz that we've read about and the confident young woman she was. This is definitely Seeley's best issue so far. We finally get some GL mythos connection with "Volthoom's ring." We also get the origin story of Jessica's anxiety disorder and nice artwork. I hope the momentum this issue brought to the series continues!

Tim Seeley has finally hit his stride with Green Lanterns #46. This series has had it's ups and downs, but this issue/arc has really set it apart. This is a wonderful story, that is doing some great character building with both Jessica and Simon, while being set in an eerily unique environment. When Tim Seeley is at his best, he can create a wonderfully crafted story that hooks you so much, that all other flaws in the book can easily be overlooked. This is exactly what is going on here. The plot can be a bit over explained and dialogue heavy, but with a story this interesting, all is forgiven. Do your thing, Tim Seeley.

I've been enjoying this arc quite a bit. I haven't been too fond of Seeley's run so far. I have nothing against him I just feel like he doesn't know how to write Jessica, Simon and a fun space opera that well. I really did enjoyed what Sam Humphries did with these wonderful characters and overall mythology. But it seems like Seeley has finally gotten into a nice rhythm. I'm loving everything with Jessica and her dark tragic past, Simon going into this weird abyss to try and find his partner, the artwork being all around solid this is shaping up to be an amazing story. Keep it up!

Welcome to the Oblivion Bar where the first round is on me and the pretzels are free! Be warned: like the pickled eggs at the bar, this issue is going to get SPOILED rotten. I honestly left this issue a bit confused. Constantine got Simon inside this place, which happens to be Jessica's ring.... I think. That ring was from Earth-3 and belonged to Harold Jordan before he was killed and it found Jessica after Forever Evil. So, if I'm reading this issue correctly, and maybe I'm not, does the ring trap the souls of the people who wore it before? I guess what I'm saying is, where is this realm and how was it made? Seeley plays on the idea that some type of black magic was used to create this space and when Volthoom died, Jessica's soul took over as the main host...... ok. All of this seems like a stretch just to get Power Ring in the story, as well as Volthoom's name into the story. But that part of the story is just confusing to me. I'm still not sure after a couple reads. But I'm also an idiot so.... If I overlook that part, we get more info on Jessica and where her anxiety, depression, and phobias come from. That part was interesting and made sense. Her hunting party found two people hiding a body in the woods. The murderers found her hunting crew and killed them all but Jessica. She didn't get there faces either. Meanwhile, Simon fights off his evil Earth-3 counterpart named Solomon who I guess also had the Power Ring at some point and time before Jordan... maybe. Again, I was confused on those parts. Don't get me wrong; this is an interesting story and we get a ton of info on Jessica. But I feel like we are grasping at straws to connect some of the really cool history of the Green Lantern mythos and I don't think it's making a ton of sense. I'm still in. Even with the confusion, it's the most interesting GL's been under Seeley so far. more
