The last couple of issues have been chaotic because of the crossover event, so it's going to take some time to find its footing. The problem is that there's almost nobody that's really likable at this point, and no central figure to pin down and follow this through with in the same sense. There are a lot of new characters, a lot of supporting characters, but nowhere near enough time to spend with them to feel like they're meaningful characters. And their stories. Everything with John just needs like a full debrief because of how complicated it is and the kinds of things that it goes back to from prior works, so it ends up just being more of a casual read, unfortunately. It's got a lot of artists working on this particular issue, understandably so after a big crossover, but it really needs to settle into something distcintve and of its own soon. Read Full Review

Green Lantern Corps #10 punches in above its weight, offering a dense, clever mash-up of cosmic politicking and bruising action. For series regulars and Lantern-heads, it's a clear winif you relish layered conflicts and heroes who fight as hard for redemption as they do for victory. Anyone checking in cold may need a scorecard and a stiff drink, but the payoff is worth it: this issue brings both the heat and the heart, without ever letting the drama outshine the fun. I like this John Stewart a lot more. Can we be done with the talking ring and the fake sister? I also like a hero trying to move beyond just locking them up and throwing away the key.

Th lack of Jeremy Adams assisting on writing is evident and the art also takes a step back. Still a decent read but not as good as the series started out.

Bringing back the “other” John Stewart, whom I’ve long-considered to be the copy and not the primary version, is off to a rough start, since this version has no emotional investment in any of the last several years worth of stories, and thus is coming in as a kind of blank slate. What’s more, Hampton seems to be treating THIS version as the primary version, when I don’t believe that was Phillip Kennedy Johnson’s intent. In addition, the recruit training is lame and a waste of both Kilowog and Guy. Sinestro is relegated to being a barely-there background character even though his Corps has been restored. A new mystery involving a new villain is off to a yawn of a start. In summation, Hampton seems to be struggling without the he lp of Jeremy Adams, who in hindsight seems to have been the key ingredient of the writing duo in the prior, better-written issues. As for the art, it’s a mish-mash of varying styles and quality. more
