Overall, this was one of the best issues of the Flash for the fact that it slowed down after an exciting arc and just let the characters breathe. That momentary rest doesnt last for long, though, because this book ends on a revelation that could not only have long-lasting effects on the Flashes, but the entire DC universe. This moment will not be spoiled here, but after you read it, you will be extremely frustrated that you have to wait for the next issue to see what happens. Read Full Review

The Flash #45's second half is as great as the Annual with brilliant art by Christian Duce and colors by Luis Guerrero. The first half is pretty good, as well, but it serves mostly as setup for the future and a wrap-up of the previous arc. Read Full Review

THE FLASH #45 by Joshua Williamson and Christian Duce is one of the best issues of the series. While it doesn't feature any action-packed Speed Force thrills, it does get to the core of many of the characters. The best part by far, though, is Barry Allen's lovely talk with Iris West. The Road to Flash War begins with issue #46, so if youre late to the party, pick up this issue and The Flash Annual #1 and youll be in good shape. This issue marks an excellent jumping on point for new readers. And if there is one thing Ive learned in 30 or so years of reading comics, Flash Fact: you should always be reading Flash, because no major event in the DCU doesnt pass through these pages in some capacity. Joshua Williamson gets us a step closer to Flash War, but mainly reunites Iris with a couple of the most important guys in her life and I couldn't be happier for that.  Yea, I wish we could have gotten more of that, but the rest does push the overall story forward so I can't really complain...much.  The art is great here and even if the big moments were a bit underwhelming, they were still big moments that needed to be resolved before the big story starts.  Only one more issue! This is comics, and there are several lead-ins to various other lead-ins. That's fine, but this is all this issue is. If it was a chessboard, it is just moving pawns up a spot or two. Luckily the later the issue goes we see a tiny bit more stuff happen, inevitable stuff, but still really glad for it too. Read Full Review

Emotional and heartwarming. Loved all the stuff with Barry, Iris and Wally. Cool art as well. Joshua Williamson keeps killing it on this title

Welcome to the Oblivion Bar where the first round is on me and the pretzels are free! Be warned: like the pickled eggs at the bar, this issue is going to get SPOILED rotten. This issue felt very different then most of Josh’s run to this point. Maybe it was just the ton of the issue, or maybe it was a mix of the art by Christian Duce, but it seemed to have a different tone and I loved it. Let’s start with what happened in this issue. Nothing big honestly; just an aftermath issue. We see Central City get patched back together after the storm, Meena voluntarily went to prison for her actions, Godspeed is talking to some figure in the dark who can promise him the name of his brothers murderer, and the touch too much! You guessed it; Iris remembers red head Wally after 45 issues. What I learned from this issue is that something has shifted. Barry seemed different in this issue. He didn’t seem like a sad sack. I feel like for the last 20 plus issues, if not more, we haven’t gotten the character of Barry Allen. Williams has given us a mix between Butters, meets George Bluthe, meets Milhouse... who happens to run kinda fast. But this issue had Barry upbeat, nerdy, hopefully, and a rock to his friends. You know; kind of what Barry was supposed to be this entire run! Has it truly taken 45 issues for Williamson to find the character of Barry Allen? Thank the maker if that’s true! Now, if we can just get Barry back to CCPD and get things back to normal....oh and if you’re reading this Josh , don’t go back to Bloodwork or Papercut. After Flash War, let’s continue down this path and take Barry back to the basics. Does anyone remember Rodimus Prime? Does anyone else remember the song from the Transformers movie? All I kept thinking at the end of the issue with Wally was.... Iris: you got the touch. You got the POWERRRRRR... YEAH! ( breakdown) And now that dang song was stuck in my head all night long.... anyway.... as the issue ends, Iris starts more

to remember everything as well as Wally. The art was great and refreshing. DUCE!!!! Great job bud! I hope you stick around on the book. Now, do I “Dare, Dare to believe” ( another Transformers song) Williamson will continue down this path? Gosh I hope so. I haven’t felt this happy about a Flash issue for a long time. It’s like Williamson was up to the plate and nailed a touchdown to win the match on a hat trick... you know what I mean?

Yes yes yes. This is the issue I've been waiting for. I knew that if I was patient and gave all these Flashes time to figure out who they are, how they fit with each other, and where they sit on the hero-villian continuum, I would get to be here for this step into the next stage of The Great DC Plot, the Doomsday Clock Revelation, the Creation Story of the New DC Reality. And how brilliantly it was done. We all had that question whether Iris would remember Wally in the way that Barry did. I certainly never expected that she would remember not only him but others as well, much less that her doing so would ignite Wally's recovery of "everything". This stalrted as a slow issue, which is appropriate after the adrenaline rush of recent issue s. It manages a pace that shows both some resolutions and some foreshadowing. The shifts from scene to scene --both artistically and narratively -- are never jarring. I was shocked to realize that one single panel convinced me to put the Teen Titans Annual on my pull list, which previously I had no intention of doing. Totally psyched for the next issue. more

Why is it that whenever Williamson writes Wally West the series immediately get a lot better? The last couple pages were the best this book had in a long time, and I want the next issue so bad.

"You are such a nerd, Barry Allen" So with Grodd gone it is time to clean up the mess he left and set up some stories for the future. We see Meena in prison reflecting on her actions and thinking that mabye not all of them were Grodd's fault. Godspeed is talking with some mysterious person who apparently saved him from dying in the storm last issue. And Barry reconciles with Iris. But all that is not the most important. Because finally, after almost 50 issues, Iris meets original Wally West and it is nice. There are flowers, tears, old memories coming back. But then Iris asks: "Where is everyone else?" and Wally's head "explodes". Who she meant? Linda? Linda's and Wally's kids? Her's and Barry's kids? Jay Garrick? Bart Allen? I n eed answers. more
