I have said for sometime, that I am enjoying Detective way more than the main Batman book. To me, there is a lack of pretension and there is a sense of logic that flows. Very rarely do you get something that works just because “I'm Batman”. Others will say that Detective suffers because there is no seemingly importance or impact to Batman, the recent letters to Catwoman being an obvious example. I would argue that Detective's strength is the relationships between the characters, how Batman interacts with them. In many ways it isa more genuine interaction than the one shown between Batman and the Justice League. Amongst the DC Rebirth titles, this book remain one of the most consistently enjoyable. I really enjoyed this issue and how Spoiler has become a victim herself in a way. And has a new point of view towards Batman and heroes in general. But I do wish we got more story on the First Victim. I would assume that will come later on, but even a little bit of a teaser would have been nice. I'm very interested to see what the hell is going on with Red Robin. I knew he wasn't dead but captured? Blue lightning man? Explain please! The art of course was incredible. The one thing I've enjoyed throughout this entire series is the art. The shading, the detail, the colors, all of it. Love it. Read Full Review

Aside from some brief action at the front of the book, this is a very dialogue heavy issue, and that's just fine by me. Tynion is so amazingly gifted at simply letting these characters speak in their own voices that you're practically begging for issues like this to come around so he can just do his thing. Spoiler fans should also be pretty happy with this finale as we get to see some real “A” game material coming from her that's prettyworthy of a Bat-disciple. The finale ends up being fairly atypical of the genre because there is no conflict, per se, to overcome. As such, I did find it lacked a certain level of risk that I have come to expect from comics, but in exchange it gave us a thinking man's ending. And once again, Tynion shines through the characters by allowing them to present varying points of view on the topic at hand. And lest I forget…there's a nice little tease at the end. Thrilling and majestic in appearance, Detective Comics #947 is a fantastic book from start to finish. The book ends with a number of open cliffhangers and I can't wait to see what the next story-line holds in store. Read Full Review

Detective Comics does great by one of its bedrock characters, giving us the sort of Stephanie Brown achievement we've always wanted and hopefully putting her on the track to some really great stories. Read Full Review

Batfamily does not lend itself well to fun, but something in this book needs to show us why these people are choosing to fight together, instead of all breaking free like Spoiler to make their way alone. Read Full Review

The Victim Syndicate arc is over and while it all felt like a setup for the book going forward, we do get a crazy cliffhanger that will have everyone talking down at the Five and Dime.  The Detective Team is getting smaller right before it expands and while I don't think it's an even trade, it will be interesting at least.  I am still a fan of Tynion's run, but I am starting to wane a bit.  I hope the next arc pulls me right back in. Rebirth is off to an incredible start and with issues like this, you realize there's something bigger at play in this universe slowly building up. Detective Comics in this Rebirth era is excellent completely due to storytelling. This isn't the New 52, where we'll slice off the Joker's face for shock value, these are genuinely intricate stories with payoffs that do not require splash pages. Tynion is writing his best stuff in this title and Geoff Johns was right, DC didn't abandon the 4-5 years of storytelling Post-Flashpoint during the New 52 run. Rebirth weaves together that period of time while fixing the flaws that were evident and dragging the entire DC universe down. At the end of this issue we see Drake and Oz, and I feel like Johns s hort run on the New 52 Superman was smartly planned. He probably knew he was going to something along the lines of Rebirth and with Oz he could tie everything together for the first act. I dunno, maybe I'm reading too much into it but I appreciate how 6 months in Rebirth is making me care about the entire DC universe and I'm picking up more titles. During the New 52, the only consistent titles I was looking forward to the entire time was Snyder and Capullo's Batman and Justice League. Ironically those two titles in Rebirth feel a bit disconnected at times for me. But I s'pose overall DC has progressed. more

This is my favourite Rebirth issue of "Detective" so far, a comic that is captivating and filled with great character moments...a very strong conclusion to the "First Victim" arc. I was not sold on the team aspect of the book at first, but the great thing about the rebirth Batman titles is that they are so different than one another. This is a great issue and what is shaping up to be a great series run.

This was awesome! I can't begin to explain how much I love that they are paying off on the emotional affects of Tim's death. This issue, I think, is the conclusion of the Victim Syndicate storyline that has the first victim taken down. Except that already happened. This pits Spoiler against the Bat Family. She is done with the world as it is, and the destruction Batman has caused. I believe her and feel for her and hate that she is hurting. I almost lost it during the transition between Stephanie and Tim's funny photos towards the end of the issue. I can't wait for when Tim renters reality and I hope that pay off is AMAZING. It has to be this title that he comes back in, because it's the only Batman book I'm reading.

This series is just incredible and this issue finishes positioning it, for me, as Rebirth's best. There's a rich cast of characters, an incredible portrayal of Batman, thoughtful debates concerning superheroes, gorgeous art, a whole lot of suspense and emotion... I can't wait to see what stories will grow from the seeds planted in these first arcs.

[ART: 9.5 | STORY: 8.8 | WRITING: 9.2 | TOTAL: 9.2 (~9)] A fantastic conclusion. Whilst I wish the Victim Syndicate featured more prominently in this final issue, particularly the First Victim, this was still a phenomenal read. The writing from Tynion is superb. It's so thought provoking and moving. It makes this dialogue-heavy issue fly by very quickly because he just 'gets' these characters. Everyone is written with strong motivation and no one acts out of character. Everything has a payoff. Martinez's art is also great, it looks beautiful and he has some really nice layouts for double-page splashes. The ending was also very intriguing and has me very excited for things to come.

Comic Book Reviews (8.5/10) "Great" *A hint of what is to come in the DC Universe is in this issue.* Detective Comics #947 "The Victim Syndicate Finale: The Brave One" Writer: James Tynion IV Penciller: Alvaro Martinez Plot: Batman and his team have taken down the First Victim and the Victim Syndicate only to be foiled by Spoiler. Spoiler wants Batman to give up his true identity of Bruce Wayne and come clean before the citizens of Gotham City. It seems Spoiler's grief over the loss of Tim Drake has changed her position regarding the Bat Family... This issue should probably called Spoiler: the Intervention, as it is all about Spoiler trying to convince the rest of the Bat Family to quit being crime fighters and to hang up their costum es. Spoiler also with her powerful cell phone takes down all of the Bat Family members! It seems Spoiler is smarter than I ever thought her to be and has proven to be a formidable foe given time and preparation. This is a very emotional issue and has Batman and his team reflecting on the structure and nature of their work in Gotham City and this issue ties back to Tim Drake's ideas of expanding the Bat Family from the previous issue. I almost mistook Martinez' art for Barrows' since their art styles are very similar. Even his Batman cowl is very reminiscent of Barrows' style. Due to the nature of the gravity of the subject matter and this issue questioning what the Bat Family could be, Martinez' gritty, dark, dramatic style fits this book. more

I am really starting to dislike Spoiler, but the glimpse at Tim Drake made up for any problems she caused for me with this issue. Also, I cannot wait until Azrael joins the team, which should cause a very different dynamic with the team. Overall, I am looking forward to see where this team goes and how it changes as the issues progress.

NOT BAD... BUT I WAS EXPECTING SOMETHING MORE FROM THIS ISSUE. IT SEEMS ONLY LIKE A TEEN AGER WHIM FROM SPOILER... AND THE LOSE OF RED ROBIN IS NOT ENOUGH TO JUSTIFY IT. GREAT ART!!! (WITHOUT IT THE RATE WOULD BE ONLY 7) THE PART I LIKE MORE IS THE FINAL PART ABOUT RED ROBIN.. WHAT'S APPEN TO HIM?? I HOPE TO DESCOVER IT SOON
