It's got some great splash pages with big fight sequences and some tense, tighter moments, especially with Dinah and Ollie, but the big arrival is what shifts gears. Bringing Darkseid into it was largely expected when our mysterious stranger reveals himself earlier for a moment but it does make sense that he'd want the return of both Scott and the child because of their importance on Apokalips. I love his meeting with the Queen and how Aquaman inserts himself in it since he's got a really big superiority complex at play here, but the simplicity of Darkseid realizing that if they are dead then he has no need for anyone or anything on this world is chilling. It sets the stage for humans and vampires to work together against a common foe, but how long can that actually last in the face of not just the threat from Darkseid but from each other in the long run. DC vs Vampires: World War V #6 is a turning point in the series, just like its predecessor. And just like its predecessor, while things will seemingly shake the status quo of this world, there is little to no indication that the changes made will lead to an improvement in the overall story. Darkseid shows up as the next big thing to hype this series up, which just goes to show how overexposed the villain has become. DO YOU WANT ME TO GROVEL? THEN YOU TRULY HAVE FORGOTTEN WHO I AM! What a cool series. I have been loving this series this far in, this scenario is just so rich I can’t get enough. So with each passing issue I am excited and I have to say I love it again. This world has proven itself worthy of being followed. While not without it's faults it offers something different while still being familiar, which makes it infinitely more engaging. The vampires are antagonists that are very fun to watch and the element of "turning" always adds and extra layer of drama and irony. Mera sacrificed herself to save Kara and Jayna in the first series, and now she's the one preventing Jayna from saving others. It's not just a physical defeat, but a o ne of morale and infinitely more interesting to watch than simple death. Kara was wonderful here. Lovely and kind but not stupid or naïve. Drawing a line on the snow with her heat vision was awesome. And Wonder Woman jsut stepping over it equally so. Nice visual storytelling there. The fight starts and Green Arrow and Black Canary get swarmed. That's what I was talking about when I mentioned that element of "turning" beause now it's not simply the fact that one or other may have died, but that they have lost somethign even more important: their humanity. And of course, the twist with Darkseid. Great first impression honestly, reminded me of the Kingdom Come Darkseid from Waid and Mora's World's Finest. Imposing and no-nonsense, but not for a second do I believe that Scott and Avia are dead. I think Darkseid works better when he dabbles in petite, personal evil so him being after his gradndaughter is pretty cool. Also, given how terrible the vampries have been, I very much the humans are going to tolerate them just for the sake of an allience. I can't wait! more

Continues to be very good. The banter is fun, the tension has some very good build-up all-out battle was great and the series still manages to keep the intrigue with soem plot points that can go in intresting directions. After all it's said and done, I think this was an amazing issue.

SPOILERS This is just a very good seties overall. Seeing familiar characters in such a bleak scenario is hurful, but they never stop being interesting to read and so is their conflict, I think Matthew Rosenberg does small moments specially well. Kara not wanting to fight but not for a moment letting anyoen push her around was very well done, as was Green Arrow and Black Canary's apparent lst moment together. The fights are bing, but feel so personal because we care about who this people were, are and will become. Plus, the story isn't shy to build up a good plot either, keeping you engaged and surprised at every moment. Not for a second do I believe this is the end of the story for Scott and his daughter and I'm willing to bet the vam pires won't just become friends with humanity just becuase a bigger danger has appeared. Awesome story, and I can't wait to see this world continue. more

I like the big battle starting here and probably by plan because this should have ended at issue 6 and they need to pull people back in since most people will drop off after issue 6, including me. How popular is this thing? I ask that because they are doing a spin-off issue. What is going on here? I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get all the way to 12, but I will probably get the next issue.
