As nice as it is to have Kyle punctuating the action throughout the issue, her inevitable prison break seems kind of dull next to all thats going on in Eikos life. A new face working under the auspices of Kyles prison presence just feels more interesting than the Catwoman comic book has managed over the course of the past couple of years. Now that its up and running, there are a lot of different directions that things might move in once Catwoman emerges from prison in the months ahead. While it suffers from a languid narrative, Catwoman #53 offers high quality art and an endearing set of side characters. Selina is finally proactive in her own escape plans and her growing army of former villains are given a way forward without resorting to their evil ways. Thematically, Tini Howard's scripts are strong, but locking up your main character for a full arc is a risky endeavor. It remains to be seen if Selina will be imprisoned for an entire arc, but Howard has created a solid foundation for a prison escape that should come sooner rather than later. Read Full Review

A bit of a step up from the previous issue. I’m still interested in Selina’s prison storyline the most out of the two ongoing stories, but Eiko & Dario’s was just a bit more interesting this go around (especially with Onyx getting involved). The interaction between all three over the phone was done well, and I’m hoping Eiko & Dario’s story continues to get better as times goes on. As for Selina, I enjoy seeing the relationship between her and the other prisoners develop and I’m interested to see what comes next with Regina now joining them.

Nice to see Leon back on art, but this storyline definitely has me more interested in Eiko, Onyx & Dario than Selina, whose motivations in the current arc seem to change in response to little more than the demands of the plot. So far I'm really feeling like the Selina-in-prison direction was a misstep and I'm pretty ready for it to end

Nothing happens which is still better than the rest of howard's agonizing run. Eiko and howard's fat OC continue to be utterly uninteresting and the prison plot remains nonsensical. Read this if you don't like Catwoman or want to suffer narcosis.

I'm sure how this book is still going or why I'm still buying it. The dialogue is horrible. At this point it would be a better book if Selena left the title completely until she left prison. I prefer reading the parts about Eiko and Tomcat. Tini has no knowledge of prison life and apparently refuses to do any research. Selena somehow knows exactly where the plug is behind the wall. Tini openly writes that one of the characters forgets she has superpowers and that it "happens a lot." WTF. I can't believe she actually wrote that. The dentist also should have a full file on the patient and doesn't realize she has superpowers either. And where's the damn guard? The inmates are literally running the prison. This is so garbage. She should not be writing something she knows nothing about. This issue is complete trash. more

Nico Leon deserves a better story than Tini Howard is writing.
