With Batman Universe #4, two-thirds of the way into Batman Universe, I can safely say this team-up adventure is easily the best comic Bendis has written in years, and maybe one of the best of his career. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - Lizzy Garcia

    Oct 09, 2019

My only gripe with the issue is in the last few pages there is tonally shift that makes it very different from the rest of the series. As much as I loved the final page, it is much darker and alludes to much more depressing themes than anything else previously explored in the series. That being said, it is still an excellent issue and the book that marks the end of the arc. However, the story will pick back up with a new series next month. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Jay Yaws

This is an entertaining romp that makes Batman and Green Lantern cowboys and also has a fight with a bunch of ninjas. While it may not be a story that's meant for everyone, it's definitely a book that is meant for someone, even if that someone is me. The dialogue is sharp and snappy, and the visual storytelling is absolutely amazing, from the pencils to the coloring to the lettering. Batman: Universe is one of the most entertaining books on the stands, and one that I look forward to reading each month for the sheer thrills it provides. As an entertainment, issue 4 here does not disappoint. Read Full Review

Please DC just let Bendis write Batman and no other books, he does much better with grounded characters

Prelude: Well, now we're in the Wild West. Let's see how Bendis handles this issue. The Good: Still loving this lighter in tone Batman. Had some real fun with the Wild West aspect to it. Nick Derington's art is godlike. One of the best parts of this series. The Bad: Both problems I had with the previous issue were either fixed or I got over it (those being Bendis-Speak which this issue was better on and continuity which I just decided to embrace it within it's own universe). Conclusion: This issue improves on the last and provides an immensely enjoyable read. While I am critical of Bendis' other work, Batman: Universe is easily his best work here at DC.

Great art, fun story. Again, not your usual dark and gritty Batman but Bendis delivers his own unique take and it's a blast.

"Hey, Jonah, you into new experiences?" Well, at least one title this week with the name Bendis on the cover was good. Not just good, it was awesome. Fun story, entertaining action, and good dialogue, and the art that I just adore. Nick Derington is great. One nitpick though. I'm not enterally sure this is how the workings of the Green Lantern power ring were established in the past. But in this case, it's a tiny thing, completely inconsequential for the story, so I can let it slide.
