This issue packs a lot of character work into an oversized first issue packed with action, but the scale of the issue escalates even more with the final page as Lex Luthor arrives in town and debuts a new weapon that fits the aesthetic of this world perfectly. This is very much just the next issue of this series, so I highly recommend reading the previous mini before jumping in here it's a great ride and another win for the Elseworlds line. Now that the team has been established, Diggle and company can settle-in and start to establish forward momentum for the plot. With all of the introductions out of the way, its only a matter of time before the specifics of the story begin to gain their own kind of gravity. The first issue WAS mucking about a bit in the tedium of establishing everything, but now that its moving forward, the series really has a chance to make a solid impression. An obvious and immediate improvement over the first six issues in this reviewer's opinion. The art is of a consistent quality and I feel very relieved to see the League come together, even if it's not for very long. Hopefully the remaining books develop the team dynamic further. Read Full Review

'Batman: Gotham by Gaslight - A League for Justice' #1 should only be read if you've followed the previous series, The Kryptonian Age. It might develop its own identity further down the line, but as of the first issue, it is revealing itself to be the conclusion to another story rather than the beginning of a new one. However, if you like a spaghetti Western Justice League, this comic has no competition. Read Full Review

Not bad. The "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" vibes are strong, but that's obviously intentional. Not the best Elseworlds story, but far from the worst.
