Batman and the Outsiders #11

The“A League of Their Own” doesn't put Batman and the Outsiders in a league of its own, but it does remain a very solid superhero comic that gives its characters ample opportunity to shine. Hill's very good at imparting ethos into the script, and Soy masterfully brings it to life. As the arc races towards its conclusion, you have to wonder what the actual final battle is going to look like with all of the machinations and chess games between Batman and Ra's Al Ghul going on, and I'm ready for it. Dexter Soy delivers some blistering and dynamic action in this issue. The fight scenes are amazing and there is so much great detail throughout. Soy does some great work with scale in this issue as well and the final image is a testament to his skill. Read Full Review

Batman and the Outsiders #11 is a good combination of action and story and what I've wanted from this book from the get-go.  Dexter Soy's art is the icing on the cake, and this is a quick read, but for all the right reasons.  It's not perfect...Batman seems out of character, even from the last issue, but I had a good time watching the Outsiders kick butt, and that's a lot of what I want from this book.  Recommended. Bryan Hill has given us an intriguing new take on the Outsiders , but he has kept enough elements of the classic version that it doesn't feel like an entirely new concept. In truth, there is a lot of establishing in this issue, but it works well in that it helps resolve some of the emotional notes that have been running through the series as well as bring all of the major players to a spot where the real fight can jump off: going up against Ra's. Read Full Review

I want to like this book so much then I am, and I feel iconoclastic writing about it. Everything that happens – on paper – is awesome. The fact of the Outsiders rolling over Ra's' men is cool, but there's no excitement in the scripting. If the plots stayed the same, but there was a different approach to the dialogue and outlining of the events and sequencing, this would be an easy series to recommend. But every month each scene reads as rote, uninspired, and obligatory. I know it can be better. There's too much potential in the characters to really spark off the page. Read Full Review

This issue was more devoted to the action which is good as the dialogue was a bit so-so. The action was good though.

Prelude: Batman and the Outsiders has improved recently so let's see if it continues. The Good: I'm quite interested in where Sofia goes from here. Really like Soy's art here. Interesting set-up. The Bad: Misleading cover and synopsis that isn't accurate in the slightest. The cliffhanger has me a bit unsure. Conclusion: My main issue is to do with the cliffhanger, but otherwise a really good issue of Batman and the Outsiders.

This was fine. When it was mostly action, it was even good. The dialogue is a big issue here.
