Batman & the Outsiders continues to be an absolute delight to read! It's the high-octane blockbuster that we want, but balanced with characterization and depth to near perfection. No page or panel is wasted with this creative team, and more so than any other book, I'd say you get your money's worth here. This book is written as an action book, first – last – and always, but it has the potential to be much more. More scenes establishing the dynamics of Bruce and Jefferson, Jefferson and Duke, Duke and Tatsu, Cassandra and Jefferson – all of that would be appreciated. It's very single-minded on its main hero/villain plot, and that only goes so far in terms of interest. It's right on the cusp of being truly good. Read Full Review

While most of the issue is actually dialogue offer clues about a doomsday weapon and Shiva's interests in partnering with Black Lightning, there is some action towards the end as Black Lightning and Shiva run into a bit of trouble though they do get some unexpected assistance from the sudden arrival of Katana, Signal and Cassandra. Prelude: Batman and the Outsiders has been passable so far but can this issue improve upon that? The Good: Found Sofia interesting in this issue. Liked Soy's art like always. Bruce was cool using both sides of the coin here. I'm interested to see where this goes. The Bad: Nothing. Conclusion: A great issue for me. It just works.

A lot more action and less of the annoying bickering. If only the majority of issues in this series was like this. Seeing more Bruce Wayne and not just Batman was also cool.

I honestly think this issue worked a lot better than last few. The dialogue didn't feel quite so stilted this time around. Maybe Fallen Angels got the writer into a real zen mode where he couldn't knock the habit of preposterous and pretentious dialogue, but now that that's over, he's reeled it back a little.
