Adventures of the Super Sons #3

Although this title may not be as high-profile as Doomsday Clock or Heroes In Crisis, it is still one of my favourite titles. The writing is charming and witty and art is superb – and it's always the most fun book in the week's stack of comics. Read Full Review

I wish I had asked Peter Tomasi more about this comic when I saw him at cons this summer. He must be emptying out all the dream things he hoped to get to in the ongoing title. It also feels a little like a love letter to DC's Silver Age silliness, perfect fodder for Jon and Damian. Hoping everyone who needs a little joy in their lives is reading this book. I love Damian's cockiness, and I love how poorly Damian is handling the two Jon's being that cocky. I love how the Gang, this mini-Legion of Doom, captures the exact type of kid who worshipped villains and tried to aspire to be like them because they thought they were "edgy" and "cool." And I love the fact that the Super Sons have been jettisoned to space after spending so much time on Earth and how ridiculous the whole situation is. It's just fun and bombastic and such a great palette cleanser to all of the darkness currently swirling in DC comics at the moment. Read Full Review

SuperBoy is split in two, a Red and a Blue version. Robin must convince them to work together so that they can defeat a group of alien kids who idolize earth's greatest villains. Read Full Review

Robin has the hard task to gather both Superboy's to escape from the hands of the mini-Legion of Doom and reverse the effects of the Red Kryptonite to have Superboy back, but things get very crazy when they receive an unexpected help from someone who likes to make killing jokes. Read Full Review

Adventures of the Super Sons #3 was a page-turner for those who were not prepared for what happens when losing your powers to gold kryptonite might not be the worst situation to be put in. This issue also embraced yet again what is fun about being a villain. Though this time around, with a stronger focus on the cliches that you can't help but run into when your greatest mistake is not simply becoming your own villain. Read Full Review

This was a solid, fun issue. However, though the banter between the characters is always great and continues here, the plot doesn't move all that much. I love our characters, and I love Peter Tomasi, but all we get is a lot of banter and fighting and a ship crashing. I trust Tomasi, so I'm not gonna be too harsh, but I want to see some forward progress next time. Read Full Review

Next issue Tomasi has an unexpected guest star arrive to aid Superboy and Robin. It's not the usual cameo and it should be fun to see where Tomasi takes the story next. Read Full Review

The storyline, though an engaging one when you think of the questions regarding the villainous kids, is dragging a little for my tastes. Yes the heroes facing the challenge of putting Superboy back together and them gaining unexpected help is a welcome change, but I need an upped sense of the stakes. I love this series so far, but I need something truly dangerous to root for or hope to avoid, and I don't know if I see one coming. Read Full Review

What it lacks in an emotional core it more than makes up for with some great pacing and action. Tomasi is always a winner with me, and while he hasn't quite hit his stride with this series, I'm confident he'll find his footing soon. From a visual perspective this issue succeeds, particularly with some strong lettering and energetic action scenes. An issue for all ages! This is a story that I didn't need but each issue making me realize how much I should have wanted this. Great art and great dialogue. Only downside is the cliffhanger, should have ended page or two short.

A nice reading, funny but not perfect. I didn't enjoy the Jon VS Jon times. Cover - I like the cover but not in link 1/2 Writing - It was nice, but there is some part I didn't like. 2.5/3 Arts - Love barber panel & layout ! 3/3 Feeling - I'm not very sure this will last long. I'm a little bowered in this issue. They have to do bigger thing. 1/2
